If you don't see Nissan suing them over this in some months, it's because either (a) they're leasing the tech from Nissan or (b) they came up with their own technically different way to do it. If they are "copying" outside of that, they'll be sued or Nissan didn't file proper patents.

They did, but that doesn't prevent others from achieving the same result in a different manner.

It's like 2+2=4 and 3+1=4. Same result, different "method" of getting there.

GM patented Magnetorheological suspension components that are now showing up in Ferrari models.

Toyota and Honda patented hybrid tech that ended up in other vehicles.

Mitsubishi patented turbo components for a four cylinder that showed up everywhere, including their competitor's WRX.

It's business as usual. I'm thinking, again, that either Porsche created their own independently or are paying Nissan.

Good thing Apple did not patent it, there would be no other car. :stirthepot:

I prefer the 5-1=4 method. ;)

I think they designed their own because if they are either leasing or paying Nissan then their technology would have been equally good as Nissan's, which is not the case per the article.

Nissan needs Apple's legal team!! ;)

Well than, perhaps this will demonstrate better:

Photoshop Reveals How All Modern Cars Look The Same

Nowadays, pretty much every new car, especially mid-size sedan segment, looks similar one way or other.

For once it feels good to be one step ahead of Porsche

FYI the new 5 and 6 series manuals have this too. At least I know the M versions do, not 100% sure about the 550i/650i.
