True, but I'd still buy one if I won a big enough Lotto! :D

coltrain 08-23-2012 06:28 PM

I think it's funny how Nissan originally got pissed that the Juke-R and build videos were labeled as Nissan, but weren't actually from the car company. The Juke-R was created by someone else.

Now that the Juke-R has gained popularity, Nissan is backing them up now lol.

the Juke-R was technically "Nissan" it was from a special project unit within nissan europe... i know they are taking orders for these now but its not like these things are coming off the line a the togichi plant.. i think these will be one off made per order by the same team that made the prototype

here is what GTR creator Mizuno-San said about it

Quote:

AutoExpress-What do you think of the Juke R? Were you involved in the project?

Mizuno-No no, I was never contacted about this. The project is nothing to do with the GT-R, it’s a Nissan Europe project. In fact the team that works on the GT-R and the Juke team don’t know each other at all.

AE-So were you angry when you heard about it?

Mizuno-A little bit because I’m proud of the GT-R team, they are all well trained and work hard and honestly. It’s a pure and precious project, not one that needs to be publicised by putting the engine in another model.

NISSAN ON DRUGS AGAIN NISSAN Juke-R $590,000

Nissan Juke-R vs. Porsche 911 GT2 RS - CAR and DRIVER - YouTube

Nissan is on drugs again and I would never never never!! pay over $100K for a Nissan :shakes head::shakes head::shakes head:

I really fear Nissan is going to the birds:gtfo2:

dmhenderson 08-24-2012 09:58 AM

GT-Rs run 115-120 after taxes and options. I think that's pretty reasonable.

enkei2k 08-24-2012 10:05 AM

Lots of custom fab work involved, plus aftermarket parts. Is that 590k in USD or GBP? If it's GBP that's insane!

Nismo89 08-24-2012 10:13 AM

NIssan said in the past that when it took on this project... of doing the Supercar/SUV cross over.... said its got all the glitz and gadgets of a GTR.... your mind wants to believe your in a GTR.... but your Body looking at the car says otherwise..kinda like a "juicy contradiction",.....Supercar technology, packed tightly (literally) into a much smaller package...not too many other companies have done it before...thus is ground for the high price i assume. that type of technology isnt cheap...plus the money to cut and grind down to make it fit correctly in the Juke...........i agree 590,000 is a bit far fetched.... i know i wouldnt. lol but thats just me

Seems reasonable. I'll take two.

cheshirecat 08-24-2012 10:25 AM

These Jukes aren't being made for the "normal" market. After the first Juke-R prototype was made, there was talk of some very rich people in the middle east asking to purchase it. Nissan saw the opportunity to make some big bucks and took it.

IMO, they will make the Juke-R for prospective high-dollar buyers until the market is fulfilled. Nothing wrong with that.

Like MC said, it was the Nissan Europe arm that did this so still Nissan. Japan just didn't know about it until late into the project.

I find it funny that he is upset over this, even a little bit. I would have been exstatic if I were in his position. To have another branch of the company take my work and adapt it to work in another form would be a prtty big compliment imo.

Also, I think the Juke-R was more about promoting the Juke, not the GTR.

lemon-fresh 08-24-2012 10:56 AM

What a waste of time. Next, they should make a GTR minivan to appeal to the super rich soccer mom demographic.

edub370 08-24-2012 12:44 PM

juke r is ridiculous. thats what i really want, a $500,000 car disguised as a juke. so when someone comes up and goes, "nice juke." i have to say "OMFG THIS IS A JUKE R I PAID HALF A MILLION FOR THIS. AHHHHH!!"

then they are all :roflpuke2:

then are like "... what you're serious... :wtf2:"

then u go, "ya but look at all these sweet youtube vids of it beating up on supercars!"

ghey

if i have to justify spending half a million bucks, then thats ridiclous

robones 08-24-2012 01:12 PM

I think the price is resonable if you consider this is not a production car. This was a one-off project and I am sure this car will appreciate in value years down the line. This car is capable of out handling 500 k sports cars so performance wise, its right on the ball park but you have the added bonus of EXCLUSIVITY!!! Exclusivity is everything! Lamborghini created a one-off Aventador prototype which sold for over 2.75MM MUCH MUCH highter than the sticker price on the production model... however, you have EXCLUSIVITY which guarantees there will be no other car like yours. So yes, i think the price is resonable perhaps a bargain if you really think about it. LOL

Cmike2780 08-24-2012 01:20 PM

Why are you guys getting your panties in a bunch over this? It's a badass car no matter the price tag. If you can afford this car, you don't have to justify anything. Period! That's like asking why someone buys a a million dollar watch...it's pointless & absurd, but intriguing.

TypeOne 08-24-2012 02:04 PM

GTR still over either of them... I'll laugh all the way to the bank.

No, it really isn't. That's why people are "up in arms", they are charging 500k for something that isn't nearly bad *** enough.

bigaudiofanat 08-24-2012 02:53 PM

I would love to see a 370Z -R

The people who can afford to buy this don't typically worry about "justifying" anything they buy to anybody. :D

Japanjay 08-25-2012 01:36 AM

Off topic in reagrds to current direction of this thread, but I liked the flashing tail lights on the GT2. Cool view for the person you are whooping up on.

:iagree: I have had the opportunity to fully inspect a GT-R black edition. Maybe the bodystyle itself looks 80k vs 106k. But once being inside the car, looking under the hood. Hearing it turn on and watch stock GT-R's killing everything under the sun @ qquarter mile track day... you start to see where its a bargain. The GT-R is very fairly priced. Lack of exposure to the car will make you think differently.

The. Juke-R is an amazing vehicle for all the reasons you mentiioned. If I were rich? I'd definately bid on one. Now that's an EXCLUSIVE Nissan. Lol. Pun intended. Honestly, I didn't expect the juke to beat the GT-2. But i will put my money on it against a Cayenne turbo S. Realistically speaking $590,000 is ridiculous for a juke R. But who "woulda thunk it" factor sells cars like this. Rich man toys for sure. I hope they don't try to azz-rape when the Nismo-juke hits the dealers?

I would luv to see someone sort out the AWD vs RWD issues and cram a GTR motor in a Z. That would be incredible.

dmhenderson 08-26-2012 08:26 PM

Did you see the "American Muscle" episode where they got over 1000hp out of a Nissan cube and then slapped a GT-R wing on the back of it? If you haven't, you should.

Are you nuts? Who cares about the price tag...$600,000, $100,000....that's not the point of this car. It has the insanely high price tag because it's not a mass produced car. If the GT-R was limited to less than 20 in the overall production, you'd see the price tag reflect that too. The amount of R & D and actual work involved is staggering. To honestly be a car enthusiast and not appreciate that this exist is kind of sad. It's a niche product and not meant to dominate every supercar on the planet. It's an experiment into the "what if"...and the Nissan chose to produce a very limited amount because there was an interest. There's no need to whine about it because it cost to much. It's just a matter of perspective. Check out the Gooding & Company or the RM Auctions and you'll see what I mean. A GT-R might be expensive or fairly priced to you, but bargin basement to a multi-billionaire. I've driven a Gallardo, which is an amazing machine, and it hardly "feels" the price tag when you're actually sitting inside one. My point is, you gotta take projects like this with a grain of salt and a sense of humor.

I guess some people just don't get super excited over fast jukes and minivans and stuff. The X5 M is another example.

yup, same with a turbo civic. Just saying it seems like a slightly better platform (than a juke) to try suping up. Brah!

I bet a 370 will turn more heads then a juke.

I'm not sure why super juke has a defense force. Are you guys really that into turning economy vehicles into super cars?

Troll on lil doggy. If you don't get my point, I'm not bothering to explain because it will just sail over your head into the wild blue yonder.
