2012 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car

Motor Trend just finished up this year's competition for best driver's car. This competition is not supposed to be about the numbers, but about the driving experience and how much confidence the car inspires in the driver.

2012 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car - Motor Trend

My biggest problem with this list is them putting the Aventador last. Seriously? I'm not saying it should have won, but definitely shouldn't have been in last place. I wonder if they would have ranked it any differently if they hadn't boiled the clutch fluid. I was also disappointed to see the McLaren in 5th, I expected it to win.

No surprise that the 911 won, but the biggest surprise was definitely how well the C63 did. I was definitely expecting it to be on the bottom somewhere, but it actually finished in 2nd!

No 370z?!?!?

Well, I guess it makes sense. Wouldn't be a competition otherwise. :roflpuke2:

Unless they included the 5.0 also...trollololo

I gave you the recipe for the ultimate driver's car in your sig. They just didn't include it on their list because it doesn't come from the factory like that.

Pretty terrible list.

I agree with some of it, but most of the list is crap. Though I haven't driven any of those cars, so I really can't accurately comment on how they should be ranked. I'd still put the Aventador at #1 though since you know it's that awesome. Also, Batman drove one /discussion.

The concep of a "driver's car" is subjective by nature.

Pretty much.

they only test cars that are new or revised for the year. also, the only reason the 2013 GTR was included was because they had one in their long term fleet. as they stated in the article multiple times, the testing is about how the car feels to the driver, not which ones provides the fastest lap times. they also stated that the aventador they tested was way heavier than the one they drove in italy and also felt strange. maybe they had a suspension setting wrong? i can't imagine that they had to add 300 lbs of structural reinforcement (and/or emissions) equipment to make it street legal here. that probably would have put it higher up in the pack. after reading the comments by the editors i thought the mclaren would have scored much higher but like they said, the car does too much for you while you drive it. many of my friends (who've never been in the car much less driven one) argue that the GTR does the same thing but they explicitly say that's simply not the case.

early prediction for next year's BDC: the new viper will be top 3 :D

They also added the 2013 GT-R because there were some revisions. A bit of a power bump and some suspension tweaking. Yeah the Viper should do well next year.

It's joke bro. I read the article before it was posted here. :P

And they think the extra weight on the Aventador is because of the heavier type of CF being used on the production model. Also, the 2013 GTR is in there because it was REVISED, not because it was in their long-term test fleet. It simply happened to be the same one.

b1adesofcha0s 08-23-2012 02:10 PM

Didn't they say though that the one they drove in Europe was a prototype?
