370Z Exit Strategy

The wife wants me to change out the Z for something that rides a little smoother. I'm thinking either an Infiniti G or Lexus ISC. Any other suggestions?:stirthepot:

G's are very nice, or you can spot up a bmw 335i

edub370 08-22-2012 09:51 AM

Supras have softer suspension :stirthepot:

The Z's suspension rides EXTREMELY smooth in my opinion. My girl usually falls asleep on a long ride, expecially on the highway.

Agree. When you're driving the car conservatively, it is quite gentle.

i have got to agree here, in addition to that, the road noise depends on the road surface you drive on (at least thats the case in my situation).... a road that is done correctly, i hear absolutely little or nothing at all.... then you drive on a road that isnt "finished" ....or done the "easy" way.... THATS when the road noise starts..

other than that, the car itself can get good MPG, road noise is to a mininum and all is good with the world

The G is due for a re-design very soon but you can get very good short-term lease deals right now.

IS350, 335, even a 2013 328 Sport line is pretty good.

:iagree: or she better be smoking hot!

My response would have been, "but you like it stiff sweety" /conversation

then take her home and do the dew.

So is the IS350, to stay similiar/familiar I say G37. If you got some extra bucks I say an 11 to 13 335is coupe, not the i but is.

brucelidat 08-22-2012 01:10 PM

stay in the Z for another year and see what the new Z, G, and IS ( I assume a new one is due soon since the current model has been out forever) look like

I like both the G35 and G37. The KWv3 light setting sounds good as well.

I would not respond to my wifes plea's for any type of car for myself. She asked me to get an auto, so she too can drive it. I looked at her and thought I can not believe you would say that, this is my daily driver and I hate auto's. I replied "No thanks", and that was the entire conversation.

My gal knows my car is important to me. Even though she does not agree about it's importance.

Davey 08-22-2012 02:35 PM

Buy a lifted truck and take her for a ride... The Z feels smooth by comparison.

Plus, you can jump the truck over things, it's a win/win!

I agree the G37 could be a good choice, the 335... I don't know about the ISC, it's not bad looking. If it's as slow and boring as I expect it to be I don't think I could handle the trade-off.

Waiz 08-22-2012 02:47 PM

Might be easier to just change to a tire with a higher sidewall and that should help absorb some of the road impact rather than changing out cars or the wife :icon17:

Wait a minute. Are you talking about her Z or your Z? Whose car is it?

Test drive the 2013 with "euro-tuned shocks". I'm going to tomorrow. been trying to get at it all week, but we been having a family crisis this week that has been taking up my free time. Hopefully tomorrow will be a go.

Joepro 08-22-2012 09:49 PM

Give her a pillow to sit on, people have been doing it with their dogs in the car for years... ;) I agree with the tire assessment, smaller rims, even 18's with a softer and higher sidewall will help. Whatever you do if you buy KDWs get a bottle of aspirin too, but dang they perform...

forza370z 08-22-2012 10:09 PM

Well, there is nothing wrong to make sacrifice for your wife or your family. So stop bashing at OP.

Back to the question, I personally prefer the Lexus. They ride so smooth and gf/wife-friendly. I own a g35 coupe too. It doesn't really give you much smoother feeling then the Z. As for the bimers, they are always nice... when they are under the warranty. So be caution if you planning on a used one.

Then my vote is Acura, yes crap styling, but the interiors are the shiz (BMW/benz interiors bore me) and you get Honda quality to boot, the choice is simple. Lexus is nice...really...nice. I may be bias, I work for Honda...but lexus is nice...

+2 The cheapest way IMHO. or put a recliner inside the Z?:wtf2:

Sorry for being a Jack***.:tiphat:

Honestly she just need some attention maybe some more "Tender Loving Care".
Then she will forget the Z. My 2cents.... you won't even spend a cent for doing that.

Wow the difference is night and day between my 370z and my Nismo in suspension the Nismo will shake your teeth out while the 370z is smooth and soft. Should let her ride in a Nismo maybe she'll have a rethink.

Isamu 08-23-2012 08:39 AM

buy an evo...

This is another approach*. So just have her sell the Z and get what she wants. Problem solved.

* not what I'd do.

Freaking hate reading posts where people are trading in their car or can't pay for mods because their wife says so. Grow some balls damnit why would you let anyone tell you that you can't have something that you are passionate about?

Is it your only car? If its shared it stands to reason that it would be a shared decision. If its YOUR ride, then it would seem to be your decision. My wife picked hers and I picked mine and that works well. Does she love the Z...yes and no...does she have a say...with all due respect she does not. I drove both the cars you mention and neither compare. If you love the Z...keep the Z. You'll resent her if you trade it in and hate your new car.
