test drive both, which ever one makes you happier, very very different ways about going fast around the track. Cars are kinda polar opposites.
tough call, I would choose the gtr, in part b/c of my wrecked back, knees, ankles etc etc so it would be "easier" on me. |

GT3 hands down, it's an awesome car to drive. The GT-R is easy to drive fast and the turbo power is fun, but it's a boring car.
I went to buy a GT-R last year, ended up with a Nismo 370 and an STi instead.

i'll make it 3 biased replies in a row!
if you want a purist driving experience like the car magazine writers get off on like rowing the gears yourself as the wind breezes through your hair knuckles white as anticipate the apex blah blah blah get the GT3 if the bottomline is what matters most and you want guaranteed results and to beat everyone else at everything get the GTR and for those that think the car is boring go take it to 155mph and have to brake down to about 45 for the turn in a few times and tell me how boring it was.. confidence inspiring..yes boring.. hardly Last edited by MC; 07-29-2012 at 03:28 AM. |

Between 2007 to 2009 for GT3
2009 to 2011 for GTR Price range 65K to under 80K. The 2012 GTR black edition is a sweet proposition but out of my range. Maybe 4 to 5 more years Last edited by Zoren 370; 07-29-2012 at 05:58 AM. |

Mostly for weekend getaway car around the track or special occasions. For maintenance cost and reliability which one is best? GT3 is a hands down looker just about every corner of the car...I know the ride is awful but it is what it is.... GT3 Down side too expensive to maintain? Insurance....Mods after market parts, oil changes.... expensive... Right? Same reason why I can't have two wives too expensive!!! Last edited by Zoren 370; 07-29-2012 at 06:05 AM. |

I think maintenance come out about the same. The GTR is just as much a super car despite the initial pricetag. I wouldn't want to buy a used GTR primarily because they get so much better every year, and on the other hand I would be very happy with a 996 GT3 clubsport. If you are looking to track for a long time, the GT3 harness setup and weight reduction is already mostly there. The GTR is still a street car in stock form.

Ya, the "boring" comment was most amusing
