Veloster Turbo

So how is everyone feeling about the Veloster Turbo. Its growing on me more and more everytime i visit there website. Of coarse its no 370Z.

I like the Twinscroll setup, 38 mpg.

Personally i think the car has potential for looks and decent speed for a DD.

I def like the interior. sort of imagining it lowered on some CV2's.

How do you guys feel about it?

Ryan

PapoZalsa 07-08-2012 10:03 PM

Wrong section and I believe is a Hyundia.

Thread moved to the right section

Z_ealot 07-08-2012 10:25 PM

i've actually already seen some tests on youtube for it and while it does get a decent amount of power (about 202hp i believe) they still mostly kept the same suspension on it with a few minor tweaks. might be a good daily driver, but we'll have to wait and see...oh and also papo is right, this belongs in the "other vehicles" section of the sight as the regular general discussion area is more meant for general discussion just about the 370Z.

cossie1600 07-08-2012 10:27 PM

I want BRZZZZZZZ

no biggie... didnt see that.

Im just liking the 38mpg vs my z 20mpg

Mannysrt8 07-08-2012 10:31 PM

Way better options for a DD,i would probably never be seen in one....would i sell my Z and buy a V Turbo for better fuel economy ...not a chance.

LakeShow 07-08-2012 11:22 PM

Better cars like the GTI and the MS3. Also possibly a WRX or even BRZ.

20mpg where? real world driving cruise control set at 65 i've been able to get around 32mpg on the Z so it's not bad on gas, but if you're going for something thats easier on gas it wouldnt be a bad choice and they arent that bad looking seen in person. I just hope they do some last minute changes to the suspension before it comes out is all, but then again there's always aftermarket for that.

Hahahhaaaa... and I kno you're driving it like you shouldn't be owning a sports car and should be in a hyundai. 17.1 mpg's in my Z on average. Lol.

UNKNOWN_370 07-09-2012 01:08 AM

Oh yeah... the Veloster makes for a great second car DD or if you're willing to mod a FWD's suspension? Go for it. Turbos make for cheap and fast power mods as well. But I couldn't give up the Z.

If you really enjoy torque steer, buy an MS3 or Veloster turbo. If you want a DD, get something that a. isn't as ugly (holy crap is the veloster ugly as hell, don't even get started on the new genesis coupe), and b. has untested reliability.

If you really want a DD, honda civics are still selling for a reason.

Lug 07-09-2012 08:26 AM

Also Look at the Focus ST coming out in September. Under 25K base, 252 hp, 270 ft/lb torque and reviews are raving about the handling.

are you on cracked or something there is no way a Z can get 32mpg unless your wife is pushing your can on your way to work:driving:

What you missed is that the Veloster can get 38mpg's vs an MS3 that gets 25mpg highway and 17 city or a VW that gets 21/28mpg.
Looks are subjective. I have been in the veloster, it has a high quality interior, high quality paint, tons of standard features. And I find the car to actually be very unique in a sea of dull compact commuters. I think its a more attractive car than a gencoupe. The veloster isn't ready to compete against established names on a performance level, but has surpassed them in a price/quality level instantaneously. 29/38 34combined is great for a 201hp sub 7 second to 60 car that costs less than 24k.

this car is less than the MS3 and GTI. But I would say its greater than a civic and corolla if I'm looking for fun on the cheap. Good job hyundai.

Lol. :icon18:

Don't hate because he bought the Z hybrid.

shadoquad 07-09-2012 12:20 PM

From what I have heard recently, the Veloster handles like poo.

I'll have to test drive it to know for sure. That would probably break me of wanting one if true.

cossie1600 07-09-2012 02:08 PM

my z is has 450hp and gets 45mpg....

If you really want a car like that, I'll agree...wait for the Focus ST. Very few complaints from the reviews I've read so far...and it looks a lot better, IMO.

SmallermouseZ 07-09-2012 09:09 PM

Nobody is talking about doing 100mph fly by's but it is a sports car. you know this... right? No offense but i find it hysterical, guys like you buy Z's and want to drive them like civics. then civic owners want to act like they are driving Z's. you can buy what you want but imho, these cars are made for go and very little show... but to each is own. i think that the reverse car purchasing people do is retarded. if you wanna cruise? buy a car made for cruising. like v6 muscle or an accord. Again, just my opinion. but opinions are like a-holes.

What? The 370z isn't a purpose built race car. You don't have to constantly be driving it like you stole it. There's no reason to be hooning it on a long interstate when you're just trying to get somewhere. When I'm on the highway going to class or work I'm not trying to race people, nor am I trying to wind out every gear. Just driving normally nets me 27mpg as I posted in another thread -- and that's usually doing 70/80. I imagine that if you did 65 on a good road and were gentle on the throttle, you could do even better, especially if you're on a flat road or going downhill.

Unless, of course, you're one of those ******** that weaves in and out of traffic. :p

finally, somebody that actually gets what i'm talking about...dont get me wrong i do get on it every now and then, but why bother unless im going to be going all out on a track, just doesnt make sense at all to have the mentality of having to go all out and wind out every gear JUST because it's a sports car, but like a person who shall not be named said, opinions are like a-holes :D
