GT500 as first car
I was talking to a 16 year old mega rich, spoiled, kid. We have talked cars before. I asked him what his first car will be. He replied definitively, a Shelby Cobra GT500 with 650HP. My jaw nearly hit the floor. Knowing his folks, he is not BS-ing. I know he can not drive a manual, so we looked up Ford will soon be making a Shelby automatic, for this type of buyer.
Who thinks this is a good idea?

That said, as long as the child is properly taught the dangers involved and given an understanding of how to and how not to properly operate the vehicle within safe limits, it could work out ok. |

I had not even finished writing poll and Ken has responded already. Wow.

Tell him to get a GT-R instead.

Suppose it could be worse, he could be getting a 600 sportbike, which is far more common, much faster, and cageless. He'll probably just end up looping it off the road into a curb or a tree. Keep us posted

If the kid were nice I'd offer to teach him myself, but to him I am not of his social class and therefore do not know anything.

IF he's conservative in his driving habits, it shouldn't be a problem. Just because he's well off and pampered doesn't mean he'll wrap his car around a tree. |
