So if he does get it, he could learn how to drive in a straight line, but how will he learn how to turn?

Did you forget what car he was getting. There should be no turning involved.

I do not fault a teenager for wanting such a vehicle. I too would have wanted it. I wanted a Pantera at his age. I got a 1965 Corvair instead. Why? My parents were not buying any car for me so I was left to my own resources.

I drove the hell out of that car and ran amuck. My 95 HP Corvair did not break traction either. I know had I had a Pantera, yet alone a 660 HP Mustang, the car would not be alive today. As for me and others, who knows.

I can mash a pedal faster than I can learn to drive a car. I know this now. At 16 I'm not so sure I would have admited this.

That was my point :p

Mustangs can't turn so this kid will only know how to drive in a straight line.

Yeah, but did you consider that Mustangs can't turn, so this kid will only be driving in a straight line?

That's because your mind was on Mustangs, and this leap to logic would require a sudden turn.

I had a friend in high school who got a Viper GTS when he turned 16. His Dad owned a bunch of dealerships and thought it was a great idea. 1 month later he wrapped it around a telephone pole. Then his Dad bought him a Hummer H1 thinking he couldn't hurt a tank. He ended up destroying it off road. No 16 year old needs an expensive car. Get them something cheap to get around in.

If I hated my kid, I'd take out a huge death/dismemberment policy before I gave him the GT500, because I'd have to be a ******* idiot to not realize that this is an incredibly stupid thing to do if I wasn't trying to help him kill himself.

Armonster 06-26-2012 04:02 PM

This is America, the kid is free to get whatever car he wants and have fun for a week or two before ending up in jail or the hospital.

Nismo89 06-26-2012 06:17 PM

hey if it takes him a life changing accident to make his rich a$$ come down to earth and realize ' hey we all breathe the same air... Money do not mean a damn thing, when you die you cant take it with you. so no more big shot' id say ' hey let him, let him learn the hard way'

not saying its gonna happen but ....not even 18 yet... first car.... rich parents, cocky, seems to like to brag, probably no credit established......... you take all those elements and mix them? its a a disaster waiting to happen. there is no mommy and daddy there no matter how rich they or you are, when your cars flipped or wrapped around a tree and your laying on the ground inches from death wondering " i should have never..... this is it... this................. is......." and you flat line.

be smart people. Money doesnt buy you smarts, it doesnt help you breathe, it gets you in trouble if you are foolish. money is the ultimate Devil's Advocate. " sure i'll get you all you want..... BUT the minute your foolish with the stuff you buy with me.... your done, im bringing the pain down on you"
