GM's reliability and the cheap interior of the ZL-1 is what would steer me away from one. When I was at the GM show up in Carlisle, there were ZL-1's in nearly every color and you are correct, unless you spot the carbon hood insert, they look identical to the SS.
I'm still not impressed with the power, 480RWHP on the dyno? That doesn't even match my 2010's 511RWHP stock and as far as track times, etc...few people even have background to realize the differences so that is pure fanboy talk. They are both fun cars so in the end it comes down to getting what you like.
