Evo Bro
My younger bro drives an Evo X GSR. He "claims" the Evo w/ Turbo back exhaust, drop in filter, Access Port Stage 2 Map will smoke my Nismo in the 1/4 mile. I haven't broken it in yet n only have approx. 380 miles on it. We have a date at 1500 miles..haha

Yea he just might LOL! Stock for stock your Nismo is a tad quicker but if your stock and he has those mods plus AWD traction he is probably gonna beat ya sorry. A drop in filter+tune on those Evo's adds like 30whp LOL!
Just ask him how many girls call his car sexy on a daily basis, your gonna win that one.

I made 366awhp at Cobb Plano with those same mods. He probably would beat your car, being it's stock. Evos have a threshold where they make cheap power really easily, but then after that it gets crazy expensive.
Your car is better to look at, though. |

He parks his car ahead of you so kids learning how to ride a bike on the sidewalk don't plow into it
If it's from a dig, you might hang. If it's a roll race, he'll win.

It's a close match, stock for stock. I don't think he'll 'smoke you' with just those mods, but your bro will have the slight advantage.

Either way, I think those cars are the front runners for my "affordable dream garage" right now. Have fun and stay safe when you crack 'em open!

When I had my EVO X with a HKS panel and a tune I made 314whp, when I added a turbo back IC pipes and a front mount I think I made somewhere around 340-350ish whp. They are cheap to mod and definitely not slow, but as everyone mentioned, nowhere near as nice to look at. Granted the Z doesn't have amazing gas mileage I was only getting 12mpg around the city in the EVO - I lived at the pump.

My highway gas mileage has improved post-tune to ~25mpg from ~21 highway. Unfortunately, the tank is tiny & every time I fill, I'm putting around ten gallons so that extra mpg nets me like ten more miles per tank.

From experience,
stock for stock you will win from a dig and easily walk from a roll with the mods you mentioned and your Z being stock from a dig you will be destroyed and from a roll you will hang with him. |

I think your brother is smart. He learned how to avoid danger better and bought a car that could invite his gf and gf's friends...unless they fat.

I've owned both and stock for stock, the Z is better in terms of acceleration and braking. Handling, the Evo is much better as it is easier to deal with and all of the electronic drivetrain gismo's really do a good job.
However, the Evo is much more mod friendly. Drop-in filters and tunes add upwards of 50whp. My car with bolt-ons and a tune made 370whp and 345wtq. N/A Z's can't keep up with those numbers. |
