Looks more like a Z's platform than a mustangs! Looks like a cheap Aston Martin actually

Edit: just read through all the posts, I guess that's just the general consensus!

I'd be careful with this if I was Ford...at stake is a huge customer base of Mustang fans that they can't afford to lose. Anything too drastic and they could be in big trouble. Not much of anything about that concept screams Mustang and/or musclecar. But...having said that, the very first blue pic in this thread seems like it could grow on me.

Read a stat somewhere that said the average age of a current Mustang buyer is 51....That's getting into Corvette territory!

For me, if it weighs less, retains power, and gets a decent IRS....It's all win!

Ford has to attract a new demographic of buyer, and Gen Y hasn't been too friendly to mustang sales.

I saw that average age of 51 story too, but somehow I find that hard to believe. I'm certain I see way more 20-30 somethings driving them than people over 50, although when I do see the older folks, they are usually the ones in the convertibles.

Its probably referring to new sales. You know, the way the automobile manufacturer gets money.

Well, just changing the design to try to be more appealing to the younger generation won't help the fact that most of them can't afford a new car anyway.

This just further backs up Ford's stated goal of reducing weight for all new models by 250-750lbs under the model it replaces. In fact, any new model does not get approved unless it meets this criteria.

Given the new Mustang will be closer in exterior dimension to the SN95 platform, I think they might cut the weight by even more than 250lbs.

Like them or not they are advancing and this is good for the industry as a whole.
/\ can't wait to see the next gen stang, I really think it's gonna be a game changer if it goes with working IRS and around 250lbs lighter.

I must be in the minority, but I don't hate that concept pic. IMO, the next stang should be modern retro in the way that the 370 is to a 240z, you can see the heritage, but it's not an updated carbon copy like the new challenger etc etc.
