haha, yeah. BMW drivers think they are better than you because they overpaid for their cars. Prius drivers think they are better than you because they think they are saving the planet. Audi is gaining ground in the BMW department though.

honestly, a lot of the comments weren't that bad. You're always going to get a few douches who say things like a BMW is a BMW but a Nissan is just a Nissan. Those guys are just idiots who bought for the brand and probably don't know anything about their cars anyway. I would also like to point out that I never see 1 series BMWs at the track. Ton of M3s though. 1 series guys just couldn't afford a 3 series so bought the cheapest 'BMW' they could afford.

For an extra 14k you are going to find things that are better about the M and more efficient on the Z...
The comments about a Nissan being inferior to a BMW simply because of name are pretty stupid because I know of a particular Nissan branded car that walks all over most BMWs but it is all just a name... I wouldn't bash Chevy as a whole because an Aveo isn't the same type of car that a ZR1 is... At the end of the day getting on a forum and bashing someone else's choice of car is silly (and that goes for the Nismo owner the OP referred to as well). There are d-head BMW, Ford, and Nissan owners all over the world. Overall IMO the fact that a "Nissan" runs with BMW and even Porsche on the track (with a huge price differential as well) is worthy of praise. |

Say what you want about its looks but the 1M is damn smooth and fun to drive. I would definitely take it over the M3 if I wanted a real sports car. Now that the e46 m3 is getting older the 1M is the only real sports car that BMW currently makes other than the z4 M's which I think are discontinued.
135 and 335 drivers always have a chip on their shoulder, always wanting to make a point on the road at any cost. Perhaps its the lack of M'ness that makes them have to prove that they really are fast and don't suffer from inferior suspensions. Don't mind me I'm just pissed, went out for Red Mango this evening and had a 335 riding my tail the whole way, on regular Queens NY streets. Come on dude, you see I don't even have a plate on my car and there are cars parked on the street everywhere, what gives?

Back to the topic, no matter who bash who, but the OP in that thread was saying he got laughed by an NISMO owner when he told the NISMO guy he is getting a 1M.... I pay less respect to that NISMO owner.... I drove my friend's 1M, and I have to say, you can't say it's a 1-series, cos it's 99% different than a regular 1-series. I will not go into technical data again cos you can google it. The power band of the 1M is very very broad and flat, it is turbo-charged, but I can't feel the turbo-lag, unlike a STI you feel a sudden punch from 4k, the power from the 1M is from low end to redline, the punch is all the way. The drive is light and responsive, take off from a standing stop at a regular manner, I can feel the 1M is lighter, climbing speed easier than the Z, turn in is quicker and responsive, I believe it's because the M3 suspension. I understand my Z is a roadster is it is heavier and less responsive than a 1M, however, my impression from the 1M, not comparing to the Z, is quick, easy to take off, flat&even powerband, and fun to drive. note: the 1M doesn't give out its full horsepower unless the "M" button is select or if the gas pedal is floored. When I was testing it on city street, I didn't select the "M" button nor I didn't floor the gas because I was in public road. The finishing of the interior is top-notch too, seating position is nice, little blind spot, thick leather steering wheel, I thought the one in our Z is quite thick, but thickness of the one in 1M is just right on. The exhaust note... as a stock exhaust, the note is amazing, jumping back to the Z after the 1M, it's like from a concert to a library. Overall the driving impression on the 1M, I say 8.5/10. The missing 1.5/10 is because I only drove it for a while, not intensive enough to find its flaw but it's unfair to just give it 9 or 10. The drive did cover both city and highway AND redline, Of cause, the cons of BMW is maintenance cost and reliability, owned a BMW before the cost is almost like a woman!!! And I will never go back to that grave again. LOL cheers Last edited by alcheng; 04-30-2012 at 01:39 AM. |

" "Think of the person with average intelligence. Now remember, 1/2 of all people are more stupid then them!" I skimmed the thread and they were not to harsh: no different then this forum where people tend to look at the Z with nissan glasses. BMW does spend more on the car. They do come with better materials then a Nissan. They should be better in many regards. There also is statistically a lot more 1's, 3's on the road then Zs...so it only makes sense that the douche ratio will be slanted towards zee germans. As for the 1...I had hoped BMW would bring back the spirit of the 2002. Instead BMW brought us the inbred son of the 3 series...which is about the same size as the E36 3 series IIRC. If I had to blow cash one one...335 would be the choice. - b |
