Snooty BMW owners

It all comes down to personal choice. I personally hate BMWs. I think they all look the same, and appear just plain to me. It wasn't what I was looking

It all comes down to personal choice. I personally hate BMWs. I think they all look the same, and appear just plain to me. It wasn't what I was looking for. Obviously BMW is a decent car or it wouldn't have the following it has.

A friend of mine races ferrari professionally. He has a ferrari FF, he was literally customer number 1 for the Ferrari 458 Spyder, he is waiting for the F12, owns a 911, and just bought a McLaren for fun. I originally was looking at a Camaro SS when I got in touch with him. I told him that I was in the market, gave him my general price range, and asked him what he would pick and he said hands down the 370Z.

I ended up buying a 370Z Nismo and he said "that is one ferocious car". He also loves the Synchro Rev. When he visits in August he wants to track it and he is going to bring out his 911. Considering his vast experience and knowledge with high end performance cars, I would take his opinion miles ahead of anybody else who would try to convince me otherwise.

Psch........ Those people are effen tools aka douche bags. You know they are pillow biter's & love playing pitch & catch.

The BMW 1 Series looks like a GD down syndrome car with serious problems. The 1M is cleaner looking than the regular 1 Series, but a little less goofy looking. In the end BMW will have more problems than a Nissan will. If you were to stop & think & do some research you will find that Nissan is a hell of a lot more reliable of a car than BMW. I like the 1M & I love the M3, but I cannot see myself spending 80k on a brand new fully loaded M3 (that is effen crazy).

BMW owners are just like any other group of owners. Some winners, some losers, etc.

Maybe so. It seems to me that most BMW's must come from the factory without working turn signals though.

That's because BMW users tell you they're turning through telepathy. You have to be in synch with the astral plane, as I am, to know when they're coming into your lane 1 foot off your bumper.

Side note: Prius owners are similarly afflicted.

on the topic of snooty...have owned my Z for about 2 weeks now...2 of the most snootiest drivers i have come across in the last 2 weeks are the 08+M3 drivers and C63 AMG drivers..they dont look at me directly just in the corner of their eye...and i always get this expression like they think are better in some way..sometimes i feel like doing a kit on my car so i can destroy all AMG and M cars on the road...then reality hits that i am a family man and need to obey the law

Hahahaaaa. The other day I went to pep boys to pick up some cleaning products for my wicked ride... a Z4 was parked in the parallel front parking of the store and he took 2 of the lines parallel spaces. I seen 2 SUV's in those spaces before. Why can't BMW owners park, use turn signals or drive there cars without being in all 3 lanes in 30 seconds. Talk about compensating for a small one. Whenever they are one the road they act like we owe them to get out there way. And everytime they see me they do fly by's. Its like a civic owner got some money and the next day they bought a bimmer... lol

The ultimate driving machine is often driven by the ultimate douchebag who can't drive!!!

Bimmers car cool though. As far as price. A manual base 135 with sport pkg overlaps a touring Z. They get up around 4k higher up top so they kinda compete in price. Bimmers are more refined and Z's are Raw! Bimmer is presitge to some and the Z is personality. The only thing is, there's no prestige in driving something less than 75k. So 1's, 3's and 5's don't count. 6 or better, then you sayin' something. If I was really trying to have an image I would have bought a used cayman S which was in my budget range.

I would say that BMW does have prestige, except that everyone is leasing one these days. I considered a 335i for that reason, but reliability was just too bad. I would say that the only thing I regret about the 370z, is the fact that at the end of the day its a Nissan, not some luxury brand. That being said, I've had several clients mistake it for a Porsche, which I certainly don't mind.

I actually prefer driving a non-luxury make. I like to buy based off of value and what i am actually getting than for brand prestige. I def would not pay a premium for a badge. The car needs to be better in tangible ways that matter to me enough to justify the added cost, not just be comparable but have a fancy badge. That's why i like that the GTR is a Nissan and not an Infiniti. Gold Diggers probably won't notice you because it's 'just a nissan', but their sugar daddy's in their Porsches and Ms def will and they'll respect the car for sure because the car is a monster, not because it is a 'insert expensive brand here'

Don't get me wrong, I think BMW earned the reliability image, but just a few notes about the current 1's and 3's. Bought my car new in 08, have 50k on it now. I've been tuned for about 45k miles. That entire time, the only thing I've needed to replace was a HPFP (fuel pump, which actually didn't go out, but I did a preventative replacement under the recall just incase at 45k). Stock boost for my N54 was 6-7psi, and I've been running 14-18psi since 5k. Proper maintenance, oil changes, valve cleaning, etc will go a long way. Enthusiasts like all of us here, for the most part, take care of our cars and usually run into minimal issues.

I'd like to expand on this a tad and paraphrase the one and only George Carlin:

" are no different then any other group: a couple of winners, and a whoooole lot of losers."

"Think of the person with average intelligence. Now remember, 1/2 of all people are more stupid then them!"

I skimmed the thread and they were not to harsh: no different then this forum where people tend to look at the Z with nissan glasses.

BMW does spend more on the car. They do come with better materials then a Nissan. They should be better in many regards.

There also is statistically a lot more 1's, 3's on the road then Zs...so it only makes sense that the douche ratio will be slanted towards zee germans.

As for the 1...I had hoped BMW would bring back the spirit of the 2002. Instead BMW brought us the inbred son of the 3 series...which is about the same size as the E36 3 series IIRC. If I had to blow cash one one...335 would be the choice.
