I wonder what ramifications this will have for the next generation Z!?

We haven't even seen it yet. How could you asses that yet? I have a good feeling about the next ipl. I also see a Z with similar power numbers and I'm expecting the GT-R to be lighter and have close to 700hp from the factory. :)

Right, but this article does talk about other things of interest to Z's...

"The G hybrid will use a variation of the powerplant found in the M35h hybrid, but with a smaller battery pack. Expect the main engine to be a direct-injected revision of the current car’s sweet-sounding and powerful 3.7-liter V-6."

There's your 3.7 DI for the next gen Z.

"The Etherea will also share its platform with Mercedes – here using the three-pointed star’s MFA front-wheel drive architecture found under the new A-Class. Expect to see a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powering the compact hatchback."

And there's a bit of more confirmation about using MB motors, and a FI at that.
