I'm not saying just looks, but looks are required. If you have a 110k G, you don't want it to look 95% like a 40k G. The rest, improved performance, luxury, etc. is obvious or you wouldn't be buying that G over the other one to begin with.

if it's a special edition it has to stand out. like you said between a regular 3-series and M-series. or like AMG for benz and such. performance and looks. |

even a M3 doesn't really stand out form a regular M to most people. But it's also not 100k+. It sits right around where I think people will pay for increased performance without visual exclusivity/rareness. So a 60k G with significantly improved performance would make more sense to me than a 110k G because it's still going to be a G to everyone on the street.

The article doesn't actually mention the Z, but yeah most likely they wont put it into the Z because a Z wont sell for 100K. What they can do though is but a smaller turbo engine in the Z, HP goes up, weight goes down.

And think of what you could do with a base G (say 45-50k) and 50-60k of upgrades... IPL killer? Odd stance.
Now an Infiniti version of the GTR at 110k would be something... same platform with some fit and finish upgrades sort of how the 370 and G37 are... that might sell. The only IPL I saw was at the brokerage firm I work at and it was being drivin by a lady that appeared to be in her 50s... pretty sure she had a ton of cash and no idea what the car was about, just was the pretty one on the lot. |

an infiniti version of the gt-r will be 130-150k since the gtr is already 100k+, but yes, it would be awesome

I'm sorry but this is not a good idea for Infiniti. 100k+ Infiniti will not sell. I don't care how fast it is. The GTR only sells because it has a whole legacy and is based on a classic GTR, not to mention its performance. The IPL was a complete failure of a car. Now a Infiniti that costs more than a GTR doesn't make sense. I can guarantee you that it will not be quicker than a GTR. If they are trying to compete with a C63, that's 60-70k not nearly 100k. They are basically in competition with themselves at this point as they build both the cars, and supposed to be in the same factory.
Let me just name a few cars 100-110k if they fancy any of you. 2012 M5, M6, E63, CLS63, Porsche Carrera/S.

an infiniti might sell if it performed better than the gt-r and was more luxurious and looked sexy (maybe like the essence concept), but obviously not in large numbers. It would definitely have to stand out though and be special. This one we're talking about here, the 100k+ 530 hp G will not sell unless it is in the 60k in betweener level range.

I don't think it would have to be a big seller either. It could be used to draw more attention to the G's and Infiniti overall, much like the Corvette ZR1. The ZR1 starts at over 110k while the base Corvette starts at 50k. It's a pretty similar leap and I haven't heard anyone consider the ZR1 a flop.
