lol...........

That V6TT would be sweet in the next model Z. Like a lot of guys eluded, that may just be a wet dream!

Waiz 04-13-2012 08:41 PM

Interesting for Infiniti but will never happen in a Z :(

b1adesofcha0s 04-13-2012 08:48 PM

I posted this in a separate thread, but deleted that thread once I realized it was a repost.

I think this will give more substance to the IPL name than the Nismo does with the Z. At the same time, I think it is a terrible idea to price it that high and it probably won't sell much. You could probably buy a regular sport G coupe and add an aftermarket TT kit + suspension upgrades and still come out the cost of this new IPL.

The Z is not a real sports car. Neither is the GTR, neither is the G or the bimmer. Every car under 100k is a bullshyyt poser. Z's are fake porsches. Get over it. Z is a carbon copy and in reality the G is a better buy. It offers a lot more for a little bit extra while the Z catches the herbs who wanna have a cheap sub 100k sports car. Ur Z is not better than any car out there. You always break even cuz at our price range we all fakin' it. Don't fool yourselves. We are not exclusive. We just not selling well that's it.

But I love my Z. And I know my Z IS NOT BETTER OR EXCLUSIVE. Its just the car I love.

:wtf:  I could have sworn you were one of the Z fanboys. How drunk are you right now? :p

I know the Z isn't perfect, but its no where near as bad as you're saying. The G is definitely not better if you care about performance.

AreJay 04-13-2012 11:06 PM

I don't think the G is better at all. I had the choice between the two and picked the Z. Coming from an Acura I didn't care much for luxury anymore. I'm very happy with my purchase.

b1adesofcha0s 04-13-2012 11:18 PM

Same here. I chose the Z over the G because it felt more like a sports car. It's more performance oriented than the G and cheaper, which is what it's supposed to be.

ZMan8 04-14-2012 12:15 AM

Z=sports car (2 seats, mostly manuals out there, rwd, good weight distribution)
G coupe = Sporty Coupe (room for 4, mostly autos, rwd/awd, bigger)

So it has to be 100k otherwise it's not a sports car?! Your logic makes no sense. Please think before you speak. Please define a sports car. What is a GTR, Carrera S, Cayman, M3, M5, C63, E63, ClS63, Corvette, CTS-V, just to name a few. What are those cars? Please tell me, bullshyyt posers? What is a Z, EVO, STI? Just more fake sports cars. Z isn't the fastest thing in the world but it is classified a sports car.

Almost every word you said is pure retardation.. I'm not even sure where to begin. First.. the 370 is a fake Porsche? I've seen plenty of comparisons that put the 370 on pretty even ground with the Cayman, and easily on par with the Boxster. If paying extra for a badge is your idea of 'realness' then I understand your mindset.

Second.. I 'know' MY Z is definitely better as well as more exclusive than many cars out there. Cars are always in a certain price range and hence in a certain class. If my Z wasn't better or exclusive I wouldn't find myself easily having 1 of the nicer cars wherever I go, as people with cars half the price, half the looks, and half the performance are all around me checking it out.

You also seem to confuse a 'sports' car with a 'super' car. Obviously our Z's aren't on the same level as $500,000 Lambos or $1 mil McLarens.. but you can drive it at pretty high speeds with confidence/control, and it looks quite great/sporty. That makes it a 'sports' car. Our 370's aren't 100k+ Ferrari's but they're also not $14,000 Toyota Corollas either.

How you have like 2000 posts on this forum and spewed such dumb crap is beyond me. You say you love your Z.. I say you're delusional about it and full of crap. You have no pride or dignity as a 370z owner! :gtfo2:

At the risk of feeding a troll, I find it ironic you are dolling out commentary on what is and is not a sports car yet you have an automatic. You must really be one with your machine. :tiphat:

It doesn't matter how much you spend on your car, if its designed and functions as a sports car, its a a sports car.

2 seats. Tuned suspension. Good balance. Rear drive. Purpose built.

Sounds like a sports car. Porsche makes great sports and GT cars. I would present the Caymen/Boxster as their sports cars and the 911 has evolved into a GT car (save the GT3...love that 8K screamer).

Go out and find a clean 1992 Miata for 4K...you have yourself a pure bred sports car. Spending 100K more doesn't mean its a sports car.

The G37 is a GT coupe. An IPL version with the drive train of the GTR (which is hinted at by that article), will make it a super GT halo car to compete with those wanting to spend 100+K on similar cars luxury brands. Executives and such with more money to waste, not sports car enthusiasts.

People buy AMG C63's to show off..not to track. That is where the IPL would be marketed.

All the while the Z will continue to be sold for what is is: a sub 40K sports car with a rich history. I for one don't want to see a 400 HP Z: I'd rather see a 3.0l lighter car that rev's to 8K. Heck I wanted the inline 2.6 in there when they first brought it backin 200x. 2800 lbs , 240 HP 30K, smooth like Billy Dee in a Colt 45 commercial.

I never got my wish :)

you all need to keep in mind that the prices he is referring to are most likely conversions from Japanese yen. In Japan, the GT-R and M3 are actually priced pretty similarly, which is why I believe he is stating the IPL G would be around the $100k mark. There is absolutely no way that Nissan would sell an Infiniti G for upwards of $100k in the US, especially when it is supposed to compete with cars in the $75k range.

but as others have mentioned, this interview is confusing on many fronts. most speculation until now has pegged a 2013 release date for the new G. 2014 seems really far away considering the current G was refreshed in 2010. Also, almost none of it matches with the recent trademarks registered by Infiniti (G20t, G30t, G20d, G35h). I would be pretty excited to see a DI VQ37 in the next gen Z, though. I figure that'd be good for ~355 hp with about 24/32 mpg.

Don't know if 332 to 355 is enough of a boost for a whole new car. Maybe if they dropped the car to 3000 lbs. The improved mileage would be great though.
