Getting a little carried away IMO. But being they sold all there first run production why not aim big. But this new possible look of the front grill is fugly.

Why did they make the lfa front engine rather than mid rear engine?

I thought the Radical SR8 currently holds the record, not that you would really call it a production car. The Gumpert Apollo in 2nd/3rd, the Viper ACR is a close 3rd/4th and Lexus LFA Nurburgring a few ticks behind that. I guess the point is, it doesn't really matter as long as the chassis is tuned properly and the right driver behind the wheel. The "magical" 50/50 weight distribution can be achieved with the engine in front of, or behind the driver. Most mid-mounted exotics are closer around 42/58, with exceptions of course.

Nothing wrong with a nice FR layout! My favorite Ferraris are all front engine.

Isn't ferrari's top of the line enzo a mid engine and some of the lower end models front engine? Yes I'm aware that cars like the 3 series has a 50/50 weight distribution with a front engine. But doesn't a mid rear engine have less drivetrain loss and better weight distribution for a rwd car?
I was just wondering why Toyota would design a super expensive exotic from the ground up and make it front engine. They weren't limited because of the previous generation such as the gtr. It can't be cost because this car uses exotic materials and is really expensive. So I was curious.

Some Front engine car's can really move around a track:
ZR1, Z06 F12 The new Viper looks like its going to move! The 599 SLR (meh) SL65 AMG California (Not super quick) GTR I'm sure there are more Edit: SLS? Last edited by Sibze; 04-13-2012 at 02:33 PM. |

The SLS had trouble as a track car when Clarkson drove it on Top Gear. Of course, you always have to take Top Gear with a grain of salt. But I believe the design direction for the SLS was for something more soft and pleasant than the outgoing SLR.
