Ok here's my 2¢. I had a 2001 Civic EX, loved it. It's a comfy car, not super expensive, and is very reliable. Gets great mileage.
My wife has a 2004 Civic EX, and she likes it. It's got over 100,000 miles on it and aside from a window motor going out, we have never had a problem with it. If you want an inexpensive, reliable car that you're not going to mod much or try to race, the Civic is a great choice. If you care about sportier performance, get the MS3. A friend of mine has it and he loves it.
