I graduated a couple years ago, landed a lucarative job on wall st., bought my Z a few months later. 7 months later, I didnt feel like continuting my ~$400/month payments, and sold it.

The next time I saw a Z on the road i immediatley regreted my decision. I traded it for a freakin jeep liberty, and couldnt stand not having the Z. Ended up selling the Jeep after 3 months, and bought a 3 series coupe, costing me $600 a month.

Still not satisifed, and I am now looking for a cayman, which will likely run me another $900 a month.

I wish I could go back and keep my Z. Had i not had such favorable mods on my old Z, i'd have bought another one, however I did not want to go through the hassle of making a new one look like my old.

it's never too late! your Z looked great man

the Cayman will cost you more in the long run. bringing a new Z up to par w/ your old one will be part of the fun. you know exactly what to purchase and in what order...

I thought about it; however, at this point I think i might as well try something new, and I really like the new '13 cayman.

your definitely not gonna want to make that payment for very long!! ^ especially on a brand new one. I do love that car though

Hah I think i'll be ok. I sold the Z about 7 months after landing my first real job. I'm making quite a bit more now, and the GF is moving in next may, so i'll be DINK'n it. (double income, no kids).

Yea, $1500 a month in car payemnts is probably stupid, but new cars are too much fun.

Well, I just posted my car on a couple Subie forums (iwsti and nasioc) to see if anyone is interested in a trade. I am basically asking for 31k for my car so they would trade their car plus somewhere around $10k. If nobody bites I will probably just keep the car

To be honest, idk if you're going to find an unmolested Evo or STi under $20k. How about a slightly used 350z?

exactly what I was thinking

like I mentioned earlier, I would be very unhappy going back to a 350z (unless it were FI). I had one a few years back. It was a great car but the 370 blows it away in every single way imaginable. If I bought a 350 I would just feel like I was driving around in a crappy version of my 370

That is really stupid. Investing so much in rapidly depreciating assets in a recession, while relying on a dual income that isn't bound legally by marriage and can end whenever.

At LEAST buy them used, gosh. I'm assuming you own a house. If not, even worse.

Damn dude $1500 is a freakin' mortgage

Sell your Z, get a reliable daily driver and wait a few years until the 370z is worth half of what it is worth today and get another one

I wish I would have done that and saved $14k in the process when I bought my Z

Bri7Synyster 03-30-2012 03:42 PM

What about a genesis? The 3.8 has more HP than the Z (it has more weight though), but they are a bit cheaper. And the 2.0T is ever cheaper.

OP is looking to downgrade to a sub-20k car - not upgrade. Econ (not the OP) was talking about upgrading to the cayman.

now, back to our regularly scheduled program..
