Made an appointment to go to the local Ford dealer this Saturday just to see how I like the new 5.0
If they can give me a trade in value within a couple grand of the car price then I may consider it. Does anyone know what I should expect them to offer? I have an 09 Nismo with 11k miles. It is very clean and just needs to be buffed. Does anyone think I can get 31k for it? |

Make sure you test one with the Brembo pkg.
I doubt you can get 31 for an 09 Nismo.

The GT was the other car I was considering when we were looking to get a new car.
Unfortunately, the dealers in knoxville were extremely anal about test drives on their mustangs :/ The cars literally had 1 gallon of gas to drive on. I've played with the thought of trading the Z in for a GT if it ever stands out too much here in Nashville :P The nice part of seeing so many mustangs around is that I wouldn't feel worried about parking mine on the street. How tight is the handling on the GT at the limit compared to the Z? I never had a chance to take it to a good road. And how easy was it to get used to the steering wheel? That's one of my biggest gripes with the mustang, how there is plastic right where ones palms would lie in a 9-3 driving position. |

I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed, and some of the changes for 2013 are pretty cool. Pretty sure I hate those tacky "pony" projections from the mirrors though.

I will say you definitely get used to the wheel. It's fairly ergonomic for a 9-3 position even though it might not look it at first.

Holy ****, I just priced out a build, just about $40K, and that wasn't including every option (no glass roof, no sync, etc). It might be worth it, but that seems insane to me.

It has to have sync if you got it to $40k. If you chose the premium package, it comes with Sync.

I just priced a build as if I was going to buy one right now. GT Premium (comes with Sync, shaker 500 stereo, etc), Track Package, Recaros, backup cam. MSRP was 40,265 so the price I'd actually pay would be around 38k which IMO is good for a 100% track ready car.

I don't think it's Premium. Regardless, it isn't every option, or even close to it.
Build Your 2013 Ford Mustang edit: Okay, yeah, it is the Premium. Still, seems pretty crazy to spend that much on a "normal" Mustang. Sweet, almost $46k with all of the options (not convertible).

The one you chose is the GT Premium, which includes Sync, premium stereo, and all of the premium trimmings. So you're getting everything a Premium GT offers, including the Recaros, and the track package for just under $40k MSRP (you'd pay ~35-36k invoice or lower). That's a great deal, again, for 100% track ready 420hp.
IMO, if you were building a car with track pack and recaros you probably wouldn't want to add the glass roof. The only other option I could see that would really drive the price up would be the NAV package.

It's rare for someone to get "all of the options."
There are gobs of options and option combos so you can build it exactly how you want it. I suppose if you wanted everything, it would cost you a bit. But like I said before, most people who opt for the "track package" won't get an option like the glass roof, whereas someone who gets the California Special package might want it.
