Tell me about your Juke

Looking for a daily driver so the Z can stay home in the garage.

The wife and I are starting to like the Juke. If you have one, please tell me what you like and don't like about it.

We just need a decent, fun around town runabout, that when the back seats are folded down, can haul luggage for two people.

Thanks!

GaleForce 03-05-2012 06:55 AM

Sub'd

My wife is starting to like these too...

Jamaica 03-05-2012 07:19 AM

Y leave the z home? It's made to be driven not a garage queen.

Test drive the juke, it's a fun car. Worth 20k to me

sfearl1 03-05-2012 08:01 AM

In the same boat. Subbed.

onzedge 03-05-2012 08:22 AM

We are buying one this weekend to replace the Echo.

EazyD 03-05-2012 08:23 AM

We are buying a new one -- the SL version with manual trans.

1. Destroyed a brand new tire, knocked the front end out of alignment, and broke most of the retaining clips for the front bumper last week after hitting a pot hole. Houston really isn't a city to commute in with a lowered car.

2. Street flooding is common here after major rain storms.

3. Wife would like a smaller car for her commute and parking situation at work.

4. Live in a townhouse with a very small garage, so a Juke, Fit or CR-V would fit perfectly along side the Z while I leave the MDX out on the street.

I'm really not looking to make my Z a garage queen, but tearing up a car I have almost $50k invested in now isn't my idea of smart either.

All I can tell you is they are leaking fuel LOL.. Make sure the recall is fixed before you buy one.

Spikuh 03-05-2012 08:57 AM

If you can possibly wait on the Juke for a bit, we might be getting a NISMO Juke next year.

They are on a stop sale, so you can't buy one until its been corrected. Juke is alot of fun, stick only comes with front wheel drive though!

What's wrong with them? Why the stop?

Correct. We have to wait. Too bad the AWD is not available with a stick. The Mrs. refuses to go automatic trans.

As cool as the Juke-R is, it will never see production beyond the 2 that are in existence right now.

I did an overnight test drive last week. It was the top of the line SL AWD leather , NAV , heated seats.. Its a fun little car.. smaller then the honda fit we have now. MPG were not good.. I couldnt get better the 23MPG even in eco mode. The CVT tranny is strange at first. In manual mode it shifts pretty fast. I was surprised it felt almost manual feeling.
Basic run down of what I found.
Bad.
No rear dome light.
MPG / uses 91-93 =$$$
VERY cramped back seat.
CVT tranny is weak and I wont be able to do a turbo upgrade with an AWD model
NO ARMREST!!

GOOD.
kinda fast/ fun to drive
NAV is easy to use
heated leather seats were nice
easy to get in and out of , and to park

With gas on the rise I didn't go back to close the deal. I accually am going back on thursday to test drive a LEAF. its onlly 2.8k more and gets 100mpg compared to 23 and has all the heated seats, nav ect ect.

thetaste 03-06-2012 05:52 AM

Car and Driver just did a comparo between the Juke, Cooper countryman and jeep compass.
Cooper won but they had good things to say about the Juke.

bigaudiofanat 03-06-2012 07:17 AM

CVT trans are all weak from what i have read, nissan was pushing me to get the altima with it I told them no I wanted a manual.

If she is looking for a good DD why drop a lot of cash why not buy a versa for 11K brand new.

....exit stage LEFT :koolaidwall:

Rooster89 03-06-2012 12:52 PM

offtopic: well I have always thought the subaru outback was the perfect daily driver.

/offtopic.

I too have heard that no matter what a person does, they can't get the juke's mpg to come anywhere close to the epa estimates on the highway.

I can vouch for that - mine gets about 26 on the highway. No where near the 30 promised. (I don't feed that sucker premium though.) Of course, if I am LEAKING fuel all bets are off. I haven't heard a word from Nissan.

Nissan says that the door locks could freeze in cold-weather, presenting an annoying problem for owners in cold climates. Spikuh 03-06-2012 01:36 PM

Wow....those 2 recalls are gonna hurt the bottom line quite a bit I bet... :shakes head:

theDreamer 03-06-2012 01:37 PM

On the MPG side of things, I believe all the ratings are using Premium fuel and driving on the eco setting. Most people I know who own the Juke, some do use Premium fuel, but none drive in eco ever.

kenchan 03-06-2012 01:48 PM

wow, nissan is recalling jukes and no word yet on our Z's you know wat's. :shakes head:

that is one werd looking car, but in a cool way.

I suppose anything fuel-related throws up more red flags than simple steering locks, right?

vo2max99 03-06-2012 02:36 PM

Juke R looks like a bag of smashed rotten ********.

I have the base that does not have a choice of driving modes. It's still rated at 26 City 30 Highway.

It seems to run fine on normal octane.

Omikron 03-07-2012 07:52 AM

My wife enjoys her's. It's fun to drive. Getting in and out of the back for me is not so fun, but once I get in it is fine lol. My wife likes it, that's what counts. My son's car seat fits fine with plenty of room for him in the back. All in all I would buy one again if she wanted another. Gas mileage isn't awesome but anything over 20 is fine with me. We always run premium. We have the CVT, I like it, but we have had a cube and a versa with the cvt so we are used to it.
