As far as I am concerned, citizenship status is largely irrelevant so long as you pay taxes (we have a sales tax so they do) and contribute to the society you live in. Now as far as getting full benifits from living in that place illegally, I'm not really ok with that, but we do have to remember and understand that our immigration policy is total crap and stupidly corrupt. So we must keep a lot of perspective on an issue such as this.

I would hope that these patrol boats are largely tasked and directed at drug trafficking, and not necessarily a family trying to cross the border.

There is a lot of violence happening on the boarder from drug cartels trying to control trafficking routes into the US. Texas is in the front of that war and police are usually out gunned. I think those police deserve the best equipment to protect them while they protect us.

No, this is strictly targeted at the drug cartels who every year up their own firing power and transportation to new levels. We leave the illegal stuff to other agencies.
Up until now Texas was hoping the US Government would help out on this issue, but they basically have said we don't care (by not providing any funds) so our own state is putting up the money.

Gotta love this redneck state.

I would rather legalize and tax this particular one, but just my opinion.

This all the way. Although I must say I do not understand why we call it the Drug War and yet we don't treat it like war...

What type of armored vehicle is it? Like are we talking an armored truck that picks up and transports bank money or something more tank like?

IC, this is just for water, we have plenty of other land vehicles which are similar.

That's where I live, so call my view tainted if you want, but while there are a few cool people here, most are transplants that can't wait to get out again. A lot of the rest are just hicks and thugs. Not all of course, don't want to say that, but far too many for me to stay here.
