Crap. New Windshield time :(

I finally just got a call from the local Safelite manager about the damage they caused. He told me just to get a quote from whatever shop I want to repair it, and then fax it to them, and they'll make sure it gets paid. The last part has me leery, just cause I'm always paranoid, but other than that I'm happy so far. This isn't even the same shop where the guy who damaged my car works for, I think they just got approval from corporate to pay out for the repairs.

Only shitty thing is I'll be without my car for 2-3 days, but luckily I can work from home.

flashburn- if that was me, i would've included my insurance guy.... let them handle the finances and discussions, etc.

My insurance company is aware of the damage and they have pictures. They told me to try going directly through Safelite because it would just be easier and quicker, especially since the damage is under my deductible (I'd have to get reimbursed afterwards). This *should* potentially work out better since I won't have to worry about getting any money back.

When I had mine done I took it out myself and then let our glass company install it and then I buttoned it up.

It seems the same to me. I already got a couple chips on my aftermarket windshield after only a few weeks, just like my OEM windshield.

Safelite called. They told me they have a guy who does 350/370's and they know exactly what is involved. Before I even told them all that I was worried about, they described the process and that they had yet to crack the pillar finishers. They are having me bring them the car vs. having the mobile service come to me because they told me their guys at the shop usually take a bit more time than the mobile guys. Made me feel a lot better. Total cost is $500 to me, $7XX actual, I was told. They will have an OEM windshield on hand Monday, and I am to come in Tuesday. Still nervous about it, but it's not like I have a choice, and they SEEM to know what they are talking about.
