Stop by Dunkin and grab a dozen donuts. Don't hand them to the front desk, installer might never see them. Leave them on the passenger side and then when you actually talk to the guy doing the install, let him know the donuts are for him and his buddies.

Well, this makes me feel better...
Corvette Forum - View Single Post - Anyone gotten your windsheld broken? LOTS! of cracked windshields on the 'vette forum. I guess I just got lucky with mine. I have yet to find a "Safelite screwed my car up" post, so that makes me feel better. |

Not on my Z, but on two of my other cars. Both were replaced with OEM glass and looked just like they rolled off the line at the factory when done. No leaking, and the rubber seals around the edge of the glass look good.
Definitely follow the donut suggestion, maybe get a bunch of medium coffees with the fixings on the side. The guys in the back will really appreciate it. Makes for a nice start of the day. Stop stressing, take a deep breath, it will all work out.

If you bring donuts they are going to love you forever and take extra care.

I wish I had a hot sister or something that I could exploit by paying her to flirt with them and pretend it was her car and that she was a FREAK about maintenance...and other things. |

Well... I'm just going to put this out there as a possible solution... make sure you have some lip balm... apply it seductively, the occasional wink doesn't hurt either. Oh, and make sure you wear a deep v-neck t-shirt.

Would have to see where they got the OEM to support the quality hypothesis. If I was given the choice between PPG (who does a lot of glass) vs. stock made in China Safelite glass, I want PPG. This isn't to slam any and all things imported from China, but there are many products that are made on the cheap overseas in volume that happen to come from there. I was told that the Safelite glass was one of them by an employee. I have had 3 replacements on my 2002 WRX via Safelite. Why three? Well first one didn't last all that long since there were quality issues in the glass (didn't seal...is that water coming in? why yes. Yes it is. Really guys?). They took care of that one, then a few years later crack #2. I used the same place (drive in, wait vs. at home/mobile). I had no real choice unless I went out of pocket with my insurance (USAA at the time, not some chump company). In all honesty the last one they put it didn't seal well either (can hear wind hiss in one corner) but it doesn't leak and I am tired of dealing with them. Compared to the 2002 Subaru OEM glass, the replacements used simply did not have the same quality. Appearance, ease of chipping (how quickly does the glass start to pit? All cars as subject to micro-meteors when driving ) *My* experience is that Safelite uses **** glass but we often have no alternative because of the thieves ^D^D^D^D^D^D insurance companies have colluded with this company. If you try go elsewhere (say a local glass shop that uses PPG) you often get a hard time. Its possible like paint, most OEMs are using thinner/cheaper glass now. I had original glass on my Miata. Pitted to hell, but it hit with plenty of highway rocks over 155K miles and was still chugging after 20 years. It did deserve a new windshield but I did not find a place I trusted to use good glass by the time I got sold it. - b |

I am using OEM glass and spoke with the Safelite manager. He and a tech of 10+ years experience who has worked on 350/370Z's before will be doing the job. It's as good as I can do. : /

When I had my glass in a previous car replaced it was my choice as to the glass I wanted used. OEM or replacement. I chose OEM because I not only believed it was better quality but it also had the original markings. I had to wait a few weeks extra to get it. This was paid through my insurance Geico and installed by Safelite. I told Safelite what I wanted and that's what I got.
