Genesis 3.8 vs 370
Alive from the dead. If it's relevant, I traded in a '13 z sport for a '14 GC 3.8 Grand Touring. I have all tbe bells and whistles tech wish from nav to iPhone nav and remote start, leather everywhere, etc. hard pressed but for the $, for what you get 1 month later I LOVE the GC. Yes, the z faster. Handles better, turn in, feed back, all that. I ran the z at Sebring race away. No way this car will match my laps. However, for the price, I have all the bells and whistlers I could want, 8 speed auto, leather everywhere, I traded my '13 for a '14 GC coupe 3.8. Yes it's a Grand Tourer, not gonna win with a 370, I had one, but it'll be close and tbe comfort plus tech, great bang for the buck.

Keep in mind I wanted a a COMFIER ride to my 35 min commute to work at 530am and keeping it under 25k with performance. I STILL can get in front of traffic plus I have all the sudo luxury with tech at at 35k or less price. But I do miss my z six speed manual. Got so used to it, power everywhere if you knew how to drive.

Nothing beats a Z in feeling one with the car and having ample power for the price. But my rants were justified. The current MSRP instantaneously proved my point. The Z was NOT a value @ $33k. And many old skool purchasers took the hit. Thank god I negotiated mine properly.

I don't have anything to back up my theory at this moment. However I noticed over the years of living in the USA ( lots of Hyundai's here ) that their shapes resemble other Japanese makers. An example. Their latest Santa fe looks a little like the CX 5 they also got a station wagon out that looks like a Volvo. Also the KIA forte looks like a civic. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk |

It's no secret that Hyundai's design concept has always been about creating similar cars to their Japanese counterparts. They were using the G37/350z/370z as their benchmark when developing the Genesis Coupe. It's something all companies do. The original design is unmistakeably inpired by the G37, which in my opinion is not a bad thing. Call it what you want, Hyundai wanted to create something similar to Nissan...again, not a bad thing. If they merely wanted a two door, they would have stayed with the Tiburon. Hyundai's lineup use to be a bunch of lame imitation until recently. Japanese companies were the same at their beginnings...taking cues from European cars. The original Z was inspired by the likes of Jaguar, Porsche and Ferrari...don't take it personally, lol.

After owning both I see/feel VERY little resemblance. The Z is a far superior performer in EVERY aspect. Much more aggressive and focused. The Genesis is a Grand Touring, no matter what model you choose. I love it, I really do. I do miss the Z though.

Nah, I wasn't taking anything personally. I agree with Firebase. I also owned both, and have driven a few 3.8 GC during my time. There is absolutely zero resemblance between the Z and GC, none, nada. Performance and quality, the Z is on another level.

I have a '14 3.8 Genesis Coupe, quality is FANTASTIC, on par or better than the Z. Interior, theres no comparison, not even close, the 3.8 is far superior. No where near as fast or sharp but again, for my commute to work at 5am, in Florida traffic, im willing to give up some speed for comfort.
