m4a1mustang's 5.0, S2000, and other cars thread
***READ FIRST***
Before you troll, think about the ban you'll likely receive as a result. This thread is for civil discussion of 5.0, S2K, and other vehicles. This is not to be a "370Z vs." thread, so if you want to do that, do it somewhere else. All trolls will be reported to AK & crew. Don't even try to come in this thread and :stirthepot: Now that we've got that over with :icon17:: So you all know about the 5.0, and I'll post more about what I have done to that one and have yet to do to it, but first I will introduce my latest toy, a 2005 Honda S2000: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-s...0/IMG_0542.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j...0/IMG_0554.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-g...0/IMG_0557.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-c...0/IMG_0558.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-P...0/IMG_0535.JPG My girl and I have been looking at these for a while and finally decided to get one as a joint project car. She was out of town for the weekend but trusted in me to find a good one, so I drove up to Philadelphia to check this one out last Thursday. I liked it and worked out a price, put a deposit down, and headed back home to figure out the logistics of picking it up. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j...209_113429.jpg The next day, I took the train back Philadelphia: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Q...210_081853.jpg The dealer picked me up from the station and I went to sign the papers and take the car home. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6...210_121708.jpg Unfortunately, because I was an idiot, I told the dealership not to touch the car when I put the deposit down, so I picked it up with 1/5 tank of fuel. I decided I could make it out of Philadelphia and get fuel on the way to Delaware... I was wrong. I was out of fuel and had to get off two exits south of the airport. That was an adventure including many moments in which I thought I was going to die. I was yelled at, heckled, threatened, etc. But I made it, fueled up, and :gtfo2: out as quickly as possible. :bowrofl: I will post more on the plans for the S2K, as well as the status and plans for the 5.0 when I have some more free time. |
Hey at least you won't forget purchasing it!

The best part is all week I was joking with JeffBlue, saying, "I hope I don't run into any kids up to no good in the neighborhood... because I don't want to have to go live with my auntie and uncle in Bel Air." :bowrofl: I came close to making that a reality. :icon17: |
In before inlinepro gets involved:ugh2:
Great looking S Steve! |
Wow, you read my mind. I was thinking of a new project car this weekend and an S2000 was my decision. Perfect car to start auto-x/road-race with. However, my budget is small and will more than likely be forced to purchase an AP-1.
Congrats and good luck. |

Nice car. I've always liked these. A guy in my lapping group has one with a vortech supercharger kit and some r compounds who runs some really fast times around our home track. He doesn't even take care of it all that well either which makes it even more awesome!

Here's the 5.0:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f...0/IMG_9227.JPG Stopped with our group at the end of "The Dragon," ZDayZ 2011. So far I have FRPP "Sport" axle back exhaust, Steeda cold-air intake with SCT tune, GT/CS front valence and BOSS 302 splitter (not the LS). I have yet to install the following parts which I have at home: Steeda Sport springs Steeda heavy duty strut mounts Koni yellow adjustable shocks/struts Fays2 Watts Link The car on stock suspension is pretty awesome, and will be even better with the new goodies. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-z...0/IMG_9254.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-z...720/Photo2.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A...720/Photo1.jpg It does need new summer tires. I was originally planning on Michelin PSS, but because I have the S now I need to decide if I still want to spend that much on tires or perhaps go with Continental DW instead. The S also needs summer rubber (it's on all seasons right now). I could buy Conti DW for both cars for the same price as PSS for just the 5.0. :icon17: Right now it's sitting on Dunlop WinterSport M3s: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-l...-54-30_684.jpg |

Good news! My Team Voodoo shift knob for the S2K was just delivered to the office:

nice knob :yum:

Ahhh sh*t you had to get red didnt you! Should of gotten blue! I modded the sh*t out of my S so if you need any inside info on what works and doesnt give me a shout! Also if you plan on staying N/A gut the OEM intake box and put in a performance filter. The OEM box makes the most HP of all the intakes besides PWJDM and J's both of which will run you around 3k...
good buy and happy modding bro! |
I think navtool makes something for the backup camera for the S, but PM Jeffblue to make sure :stirthepot:
In all seriousness though, that is a sexy car. I have always had a thing for the s2000. |
Why were you being threatened and heckled? Were you driving in some redneck hick town or something?
What do you think about interior room for the s2000? I thought, and still thinking, about buying one as a daily driver and track toy. They're very cheap right now. But that tight claustrophobic interior, lack of torque, and noisy engine give me the distinct feeling I won't be happy during those long commutes in rush hour traffic. |
Both rides are looking great Steve!
|
Nice choice!
Back in 2000, I chose between S2000 and Celica. Bought Celica. In '06, chose between S2000 and 350. Bought 350. In '09, chose between S2000 and 370. Bought 370. I think I need an S2000. :icon17: |

Great color choice and nice set of cars you got there. I think one day i would love to get a roadster like an s2000 or mx-5. Both cars are super fun I hear.
Steve, What are the plans with the S-2000? |

Interior room... it depends on your size. I am 6'0 and 250 lbs and fit comfortably. But I have the seat all the way back, and the steering wheel is not adjustable so it's a little low but still in a good position. I wouldn't want to DD it, though. There's not much space, not much room to move around, and it is noisy. I think it's the perfect fair-weather car or track toy, but not a daily driver. I view it as a compliment to the 5.0/370Z. With the 5.0/370 you have a car that compromises sport and comfort/practicality. The S2K is all about the driving experience... the engineers really didn't bother much with making it practical or comfortable. Torque... honestly the AP2 feels fairly torquey. I am used to the 5.0 and don't feel left wanting with the S2K. Obviously if you need to "go" you will downshift, but in regular situations it's fine... just keep it above 2,000 RPM and it moves about just fine. It's responsive, and thanks to the throttle cable there is no input lag at all. The engine actually sounds pretty good purring throughout the rev range. And the transmission is just to die for. I love it. Aside from the chassis the transmission is my favorite thing about this car... it's... perfect. |

Anyways, this thread is about cars so let's move along. |

Anyways, moving along. I ordered for the S2K: Wheelskin's leather steering wheel cover 6 Honda OEM oil filters 6 Oil drain plug washers Trans drain/fill washers Diff drain/fill washers New OEM floor mats Still need to pick up an OEM air filter and transmission fluid. Then I need to decide what diff fluid to use. Apparently Honda does not stock any S2K diff fluid, and some dealers have used the CR-V fluid which has led to premature failure. The seats show some wear, especially on the passenger seat (I think the previous owner had a small dog) so I am going to order Clazzio leather seat covers: http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...K/P1020522.jpg |
Car looks good.
-Insert F&F joke- |
like i said before, the S looks clean :icon17: love it

as for diff fluid, why not use redline75w90? |
What Steve is trying to say is that he was in the ghettos of Philly. Every big city has them and it's not a place you want to be if you absolutely don't have to.
Cars look great Steve, can't wait to see the s2k and person and get a ride in one. I've never driven/rode in one before. |
