Had to drive it on a pretty rough gravel road with a really steep grade to get to a vineyard a couple weeks ago.

370Z & Mustang 5.0 Dragon Run 2011 Mustang GT (with stock Brembo package suspension) chases a 2009 Nissan 370Z with KW V3, Stillen sway bars, and RE11s on TE37s. The run is interrupted by some slow riders/drivers a couple times. |

i just supercharged an s2000 vortec 8lbs. and i would have to say i wouldn't even consider doing it again. it was fast, but after 3 sets of input bearings, and having to remachine the v2 case, i would say if you decide to add power to it go turbo.

Just stumbled upon this thread at random...
I sold my '02 S a couple of weeks ago and have had a '12 Z for about 450 miles now. Owned the S for 10 years and 115,000 miles (daily driver + few dozen track days)... I'm trying really hard to not regret the decision already... Anyway, just wanted to mention: don't sell the S until you've tracked it, assuming you're into that sort of thing. The S had so much less power, but it was a proper sports car: so far I'm feeling that the Z is a sporty looking car. I really, really hope that I my feelings change as I get familiar with the Z. |

I run into trouble sometimes because I will start comparing the feel of the S2000 to my 5.0. How can I get the 5.0 to feel like the S2000? It just won't happen. My suspension guy also tends to serve as my therapist since I talk to him about this a few times a month. I definitely love having both, though. No compromise.

There is a way to get the steering feel of an S2000 into the mustang, but it is going to literally require installing the s2000 in the mustang |

By the way, for those shocked at the bike rack: I had welded up a hitch for my S and towed a 4' x 4' trailer (for track wheels and bigass toolbox) to trackdays. Hitch removed from the car by pulling three pins under the *** end no need to haul it around the track)... burning yourself on the exhaust was optional, but considered to be good form. If you're interested in upgrading from the bike rack, I can send pics.

My concern now is whether to mod the Z to make it track-worthy, or just commute in it and wait for the '15 mustangs (actually, '16 for me - never buy the first year). |

One thing nice about the Z that the S won't do is slide the tail around controllably on sticky tires. I could drift or go to the drag strip with the Z--neither are my cup of tea, but the car is more versatile. The S was an awesome car but really is only suite for road course and auto-x type events. But I also feel like the Z is between sports and GT car, and I have the nismo--I wonder if I would actually dislike the touring model! I couldn't believe how quiet the car was when I got it lol.
The Z is a brute compared to the S, which is more like a scalpel. I always heard the only true upgrade from an S was a Cayman/Boxster S or R, and that in the intermediate price ranges, other options on the market have enough trade-off that it's a give and take rather than a better car. |
