Yeah, my fair weather drop top third car can't handle tires with less than 10/10 rain traction.

Star specs are fine in the rain unless you can't drive.

My only real options are PSS in OEM size 255/40/19 (27" tall) or 275/35/19 (26.6" tall).

RE-11's ( 285/35R19 ) Might work, but I don't know how wide your wheels are (wheel width range 9"-11" for 285's)

Minimum rim width for the 285 RE-11 is 9.5". My wheels are 9" wide.

I am still not 100% sure if 275s up front will rub or not.

:bowrofl:

How long do the star specs last? I want a set of tires to last at least two summers.

Red__Zed 02-15-2012 11:11 AM

Depends how you drive. Probably 15k, not rotated with mixed driving.

m4a1mustang 02-15-2012 11:12 AM

I guess that's not bad. I'd still like more, though. We'll see when it comes time to order.

eddieconfetti 02-15-2012 11:58 AM

im here to troll steve. okay so the 5.0 is much faster than the z but the z looks better while the s2k handles better than the 5.0 and the z, but the z is faster than the s2k. TROLLLOOOLLLOOOLLLL

so how u liking your s2k steve?? hit the mountains yet??

m4a1mustang 02-15-2012 12:00 PM

:icon17:

I like it a lot. Haven't hit the mountains yet but I have taken it on some of the twisty roads here. Lots of fun. It's just a big go-kart.

shadoquad 02-15-2012 12:08 PM

S2k's are tight handlers. You're going to have so much fun at Zgheyz.

eddieconfetti 02-15-2012 12:08 PM

i know s2k is great for corners, but u did say the 5.0 was also great for corners. which one u liking better??

I think the 5.0 would whoop it because it has so much more grip. They both drive differently, though, which is the fun. The S2K is like driving a go-kart, so I don't really care how fast it is. It feels awesome. :icon17:

Yeah unfortunately it's been a little cold for the top down. I only had it down when I was in the Hood and that was not fun. :bowrofl:

tonythetiger 02-15-2012 02:18 PM

s2ki.com is a great source of info on s2k, i was on that website for yrs planning to get s2k but decided to get a z at the last sec lol

:rofl2: if there was ever a time you should have had the top up, it was this. I'm surprised no one tried to throw a grenade in there.

Very nice S2K. I wish Honda still made them, what a car!

m4a1mustang 02-15-2012 04:14 PM

Yeah it'd be pretty cool if they were still making them. Unfortunately Honda decided to ditch fun cars all together. :icon17:

Red__Zed 02-15-2012 04:17 PM

Who can blame them? They couldnt move the s anymore.

m4a1mustang 02-15-2012 04:19 PM

Yeah if people think it's tough selling a Z in this economy I can't imagine how hard it would be to get the S out the door.

mantella87 02-15-2012 04:25 PM

True. It's depressing.

kenchan 02-15-2012 08:38 PM

I didn't know what was the pricing for the s2k in US when Honda drop it from the market, but a s2k in Canada cost about $50k plus option and taxes.

For that kind of price in 2008, no too many people would like to spend that kind of money to buy a 4-cyl 240hp car. Yes, it is one of the most fun to drive, but there are so many other options with that price range.

Yup, so sad....

m4a1mustang 02-16-2012 06:53 PM

So it turns out we didn't care much for the feel of the Team Voodoo knob on the S2K. The way the boot is on the car it just felt weird... you end up grabbing both the shift knob and the top part of the boot. Not a good feeling.

Ordered a "wrinkle red" textured Moddiction Anvil II knob and a new shift boot with red stitching.

On the 5.0 side of things, I'm going to put my Michelin PSS order in soon to capitalize on the special on TireRack right now. Discounted at $1488 for the set (originally $1550+) and you get a $70 rebate, which will cover shipping and then some.

haggomyeggo 02-17-2012 07:54 AM

No homo but I would think you would want a smaller knob for that transmission. What about just a type-r knob from Honda?

I agree with your finding though. I read your post and we went to put my knob( formally your knob) on my buddies s2k and we didn't like it either..

Yeah, the knob I got is the knob you got from me that time you bought my car because you wanted some knob... :icon17:

I actually think I would like a longer throw with this transmission. Something closer to the steering wheel.

We ordered this style in "wrinkle red" and the same shift boot shown:

http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/gallery/pa...254__file__med

Hopefully it will provide a better feel.

Unintentionally found that when Kenchan was secretly researching "shaft extenders" over some adult websites.
