m4a1mustang's 5.0, S2000, and other cars thread

No the 5.0 is getting the serious stuff. S2K is just for fun. I might pick up the MGW but tbh I am happy with the stock shifter.

Congrats on the S2k purchase. Now we all know you just wanted to be like Dan

Yeah, I look forward to all your mods, but I hope this doesn't mean the 5.0 will take a back seat to your mods. Did you get the MGW shifter yet??? That's a must, my friend.

Btw, speaking of S2k, did you know I cross shopped that S2k with the Z back in end of 2009? I ALMOST got a blue S2k...but the wifey just didn't like the cramped interior. So we opted for the Z instead. She also said it looked better than the S2k. But I've always loved the S2k.....

Again, congrats and good find.

p.s. BUY THE MGW.
I nearly bought an s2k back in 2003, but I opted for practicality when I bought my current beater. It paid off when we got a foot of snow that following winter.

But I do love those cars. But I also couldn't deal with the cramped feeling.

Still, they have a perfect sports car feel.

I would never have bought the S2000 to be an only car. It's like an accessory car. It's nice to have when you want to drive a big go kart.

Wait till you even just TRY the MGW. Do you know anyone who has one installed? If I lived close to you, I'd let you drive my car.

Honestly, I was happy with the stock shifter too. Until I tried the MGW. If you think the S2k tranny is nice...... you will understand the MGW. I'd say it's even better than the S2k tranny.

I believe it. It's just not high on the list right now.

I'm very frustrated right now.

I ordered a "new" steering wheel off ebay for the S2K. It got here and to my surprise it was in absolutely great condition. Looks brand new. What a steal for $49.

Anyways, I attempted to remove the old wheel tonight to install this one. The T30 torx bolt on the left of the wheel came off without a hitch. But the one on the right just stripped completely round when I attempted to remove it. These are the two bolts that hold the airbag in place, which has to be removed to allow access to the wheel nut.

Anyways, it's in a super tight space and cutting the bolt is not an option. I tried to drill it as best as I could, but I'm going to need to get a screw extraction kit in the morning and hopefully that will do the trick and get the bolt out. If it works, I'm going to use a standard bolt with the new wheel. I hate Torx $h1t.

if all else fails, jb weld a disposable attatchment to the screw and throw it all away when done.

My plan D is just to drill the entire thing out. I can throw the current wheel frame away. Or just rethread the hole after I destroy it.

Screw extractor kit worked wonders... easily got the bolt out. So my "new" wheel is on the car. Also swung by the Honda dealership and picked up a wheel lock.

I'm really glad this worked out. That wheel needed replacing, and you may recall my bad luck with screw removal from my pedals disaster. I'm happy for you bro
