No more wrap-around rear window...that's a first.

Red370 01-20-2012 07:11 AM

about damn time they changed up that tired ass design.

Red__Zed 01-20-2012 07:12 AM

Hm....not sure how I feel about it

Jjaden 01-20-2012 07:17 AM

Hmmmm, this maybe the ugliest vet I've ever seen.

NewlyIMPORTed 01-20-2012 10:20 AM

I think the production model of that could look pretty bad A$$

m4a1mustang 01-20-2012 10:26 AM

Interesting. It's *probably* going to look pretty good in the flesh. We'll have to see.

What I'm hoping for is that they got the Cadillac team to handle the interior.

Honestly, the current design is classic and with what they are prototyping it still holds a lot of design cues from the current C6. Also, that tired design does great in races. ;)

I hope so, it needs to be burned and rebuilt from the ground up.

m4a1mustang 01-20-2012 10:31 AM

I was checking out a '10 (I think) vert at our car show a few weeks ago and materials wise and stuff it was actually pretty good... but the design just doesn't really fit the car at all. It needs a true cockpit type feel and should be modern and stylish.

Which is good I guess since a lot of the buyers are... ummm... up there. :icon17:

But hopefully they'll get more aggressive... maybe with a Recaro option or something.

:iagree:

That Camaro looking rear end has got to go. Those tail lights would ruin the look of the car.

m4a1mustang 01-20-2012 10:57 AM

Yeah they need to keep the classic Corvette style tails.

The Dimer 01-20-2012 11:49 AM

If you look at the prototype pictures they seem to be your standard tail lights. Unless they are going to change from this point.

6MT 01-20-2012 12:04 PM

Probaly still has 19th century buggy technology suspension.

You know.... horse cart leaf springs.

You realize the leaf spring used in the Corvette is not the type of spring you probably think it is, right? And have you seen what a Z06, GS, or ZR1 does on a road course?

Yep, I'm not saying the 'vette does things poorly. I'm just saying it's still using 100 year old technology in the suspension.

The Dimer 01-20-2012 12:12 PM

Much like the rear end in your.....

I kid, I kid. :p

It's an evolution of technology invented a long time ago... just like everything else around.

m4a1mustang 01-20-2012 12:15 PM

And there are definitely benefits to using a transverse leaf spring as well.

Bottom line is it works and works well.

It's hard to beat the GT-R when NISSAN made a back door deal with the Laws of Physics. :p

Animation firm brings C7 Chevrolet Corvette conjectures to life - Yahoo! Autos

is this the next gen Vette?

i don't know about you guys but it is ugly to me.

theDreamer 08-23-2012 11:05 AM

That video was based on info Jalopnik acquired from a few sources and built an animation, here are the original articles:

The front end of this car looks like a 458 Italia. So is this supposed to come out befor or after the stingray vette that can be seen here. concept stingray - Google Search

The concept car you linked was the base for the c7, a lot of the design cues were taken to build the production car.

Nismo89 08-23-2012 12:31 PM

i hope this wont be the final design........... the back tail lights looks like its trying to take after the camaro, and leave its signature round tail lamps behind.... wtf mate?

coltrain 08-23-2012 12:38 PM

The front end has been confirmed ... that is very close to the production design. I'm sure the rest of the car is mostly speculation, and I'm sure GM is keeping it tight to ensure the body isn't leaked as well.

Compdoc777 08-23-2012 02:51 PM

If that's is a lock and that is what it's going to look like they better not make too many people are not going to like that or the price tag.

I have heard mid engine and smaller displacement more like the old ZR1 with DI like the Ferrari motors.

Heck might as well make it an eletro-gas hybrid. Corvette has always been about cutting edge design. Yet these days it more about keeping up with technology.
