i do know my love for these are growing and if i got one i'd probably make up for my betrayal to my GM only (also vette fanatic) father who i think still hates me for buying a nissan.

I can't wait to see the C7 destroy in the comparisons. It's lovely in person!
I'm loving my "new" 08 Z06. I can't imagine similar performance for a car that starts right at $50k.

In a few years I'll definitely look to upgrade to the new Z06 variant.

Way to go Chevy!

GM

GM’s Reuss Justifies Decision to Allocate 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray to Select Dealers

Mark Reuss, president of GM North America, explained in a recent interview why Chevrolet is only allowing certain dealers to sell the 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray.

“We can only make a certain amount of cars in a certain amount of time, so the first allocations are based on where we have the biggest density of Corvette (buyers),” said Reuss. “I don’t think selling four Corvettes in the prior year is a tall order, because we’re not going to take away customers from dealerships that have really performed in Corvette markets.” Reuss had also noted that there are some “tradeoffs” to consider, particularly Chevy wanting to “make more cars faster earlier” but being under the gun to release the 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray “with this high quality.”

All things considered, Reuss had some very interesting comments about the ongoing controversy with 2014 Corvette allocation across dealerships. Still, experts believe General Motors’ business strategy for the new Corvette may have some less than pleasant ramifications, not only for dealerships, but for consumers as well. It could also result in a positive impact for other dealerships and buyers, though it’s too early to make any conclusive statements at this point. Furthermore, Chevy and GM’s plan to limit allocation for the new Corvette is only a temporary strategy, one that will only be in place during the preliminary launch, where inventory may still be quite limited.

Never worth buying a GM car year one... Too much politics and hype around GM to bother. If i consider a new vette? It will be year 3 or 4.

My impression... I was impressed but not because the C7 looked so great in it's new design. In reality, it looks like a C6 with a bunch of shyt on it. But, it had a look of quality to it. The C6 doesn't really look like a $50k car imho. It looks like a $40k car if you ask me. The paint and wheels just looked leagues better than the current C6... The rear was strange to me. I didn't see it long enough to form an objective opinion. But what i can say is... Immediately, it looked very supercar-ish. But I can't say if it was nice or not.

What i can assertain from my 30 second view of the C7 corvette. First year buyers will go crazy... After that, it will just be a vette in terms of looks. C6 with a bunch of shyt on it isnt ground-breaking. But the overall look in terms of external materials was impressive. With the photographed interior i can see why this car is $53k. But i also see why you may prefer the C6.
I guess i really wanted the car to look like the Vette from the transformers movie like seriouly talk about exotic!! this car looks like a viper. that car looks nothing like the Viper the lines were amazing. I Like the back. it's the front bumper i dont like. they tried to make the front bumber like like a stingray? fail. hope the Z06 is more agressive. just tired of the domestic look. the car looks awkward like it doesnt know what it wants to be... more like a cross dresser. Some of the lines are barrowed from different cars and hell now it has camero tail light's not a innovator. the GTR is like a 6 year old car. some say it's ugly but the car still looks like it came from MARS it's different and has skyline traits

I don't think it looks bad but i do agree with the bolded parts from a philosophical standpoint.

Default C7 0-60: 3.8, 12.0/119mph

Corvette Stingray: 3.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mph

DETROIT – Chevrolet released official performance estimates today for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, the most capable standard Corvette ever. Equipped with the available Z51 Performance Package, the new Stingray is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, braking from 60 to 0 in 107 feet, and sustaining 1.03 g in cornering.

Cumulatively, the acceleration, cornering and braking capability of the Corvette Stingray enabled it to lap the Virginia International Raceway’s (VIR) 4.2-mile “Grand Course” in 2:51.78.

“For the new Stingray, we set out to elevate every aspect of the Corvette’s performance,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. “Considered alone, the acceleration, braking and cornering performance of the Corvette Stingray is truly impressive. More significant is how well they work together, resulting in a lap time at VIR that places the new Stingray in the upper echelon of all sports cars.”

2014 Corvette Stingray Z51
Acceleration from 0-60 MPH 3.8 seconds
¼ mile acceleration. 12 seconds @ 119 mph
Braking distance from 60 to 0 MPH. 107 feet
Maximum lateral acceleration. 1.03 G
VIR ‘Grand Course’ Lap. 2:51.78

The lap around VIR was conducted in Stingray equipped with the available Z51 Performance Package and Magnetic Ride Control. The vehicle that conducted the lap was modified only with safety features like a racing seat and harness, and fire extinguisher system.

“The new Stingray constantly communicates feedback to the driver, which makes you feel incredibly confident behind the wheel,” said Jim Mero, Corvette vehicle dynamics engineer. “That confidence encourages you to attack each corner because the Stingray drives so well: the tire grip is incredible; the steering response is some of the best I’ve ever experienced; the Magnetic Ride dampers allow little body roll through the corner, while still soaking up the rumble strips when you clip the apex,” he said. “It’s just addictive on the track.”

The 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013 for a suggested starting retail price of $51,995, excluding tax, title, and license fees. The $2,800 Z51 Performance Package includes an electronic limited-slip differential; dry-sump oiling system; integral brake, differential and transmission cooling; as well as a unique aero package that further improves high-speed stability. Magnetic Ride Control with Performance Traction Management is a $1,795 option. A Corvette Stingray equipped like the test car used at VIR would cost $56,590.

I optioned out to the same range. I think it, was $73,855 or something like that. This is why a new corvette won't be an option. America came through in the +$50k segment. Let's see how they pull off this next camaro. Which i think is a way more crucial car to have success than the corvette considering it's sales volume numbers... But Chevy is doing huge things.

Good work on the Chevy Cruze TD, now make a visual refresh count on that car, better steering feel, a more positive suspension and it will be good to go.

the one i mapped out was 72K and some change. for that money it would have to really wow me in person to pull me away from a GTR.
