Their reporting is mostly entertainment, if you're referring to Top Gear.

And they absolutely loved the C6 Z06. I watched the review before I started shopping them. Clarkson also advocated the C6 ZR1 in both their salt flat special and during their review against the Audi R8

But Clarkson also said he would never buy one. As a car to occasionally drive on actual roads. Track use... no problem. But real world where you actually have to take it onto a road.... nope!

And again, it's an entertainment show, and Clarkson has very obvious automotive biases, which makes that show as entertaining as it is.

I like what I see in the C7 already, but I won't really have a full opinion until I see it in person or drive it.

And while people blasted past corvettes for interior and build quality, they were still incredible performance for the dollar, and I'm fairly sure that's what they were aimed at.

Steve,
I'm pretty sure they all have brembo brakes, just that the Z51 has larger rotors. Being that the main focus of my powdercoating business is corvette brakes, that was something I was very interested in and read about everywhere I could last night.

That being said, there is so much other goodness in the Z51 package that its a must have.
Oil, diff and trans coolers
dry sump,
etc.

daisuke149 01-14-2013 08:54 AM

I would take the new one over the zr1 any day.

Simply because I know I wouldn't use or care for that power every day or normally ever. I wouldn't push it to the edge like the base / z51 c7.

Also with that said, interior comfort goes along way with me as well as exterior aesthetics.

if i wanted to brag and cared about that more than an overall better car, sure the zr1 maybe.

That's great to know!

I definitely think I'd spring for the Z51 just to have those features. Will the magnetic shocks only be available on the Z51 or will it be an option on the base?

I've read the Z51 starts you off with Bilsteins, but you can add the magnetics as an option. Hopefully they make the magnetic an option for the base car too.

Why would they not make magnetic an option for base? The C6 has that option

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2013 09:01 AM

Don't forget the ZR1 is like $100k+

I just wasn't sure how they were going to structure the options this go around.

Seems like just the base stingray with the magnetic ride would be a great choice for a car that not tracked or beat to hell at ZDayZ.

I take all my buying advice from soft British multimillionaires as well.

His situation isn't remotely comparable to yours. I wouldn't rock a corvette if I was making that much either.

m4a1mustang 01-14-2013 09:12 AM

Clarkson also hates America.

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2013 09:13 AM

But he's just so damn hilarious!

C&d claims you have to get z51. We will have to wait and see.

shocks come in three flavors: 1.4- and 1.8-inch Bilsteins in the base and Z51 cars, respectively, or magnetorheological Magnetic Ride Control as an option on the Z51. Chevrolet tells us to keep our test equipment peeled for 1.0 g on the skidpad from even the basic model.

daisuke149 01-14-2013 09:16 AM

it seems you'd only want the MR if you want to daily / track.

if you dont want to track just get the base as you will also not need the coolers etc.

so it makes sense to me that its only offered with the z51 if that were the case.

m4a1mustang 01-14-2013 09:16 AM

I just love how you can tailor this car to your liking. Seems like you'll be able to adjust the following with DSM:

Throttle response
Steering effort
Shocks (with the magnetic control)
Traction control (10 levels?)
E-diff control (maybe?)
Exhaust note
Active fuel management (seems like you can disable the V4 mode)

I am a bit concerned how the AFM will hurt or interfere with aftermarket power adders though. I believe in most cases in previous vehicles, for the big power adders and tuning they disabled it.

2014 Corvette Reveal | Chevrolet

Click "Specs"

Then click the wheel or color box to toggle through the options. FANTASTIC color options!

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2013 09:21 AM

Can't wait to see it in person. Steve I call dibs on the first ride in yours!

daisuke149 01-14-2013 09:21 AM

yeah i wanna see one in white.

with all the people on here saying they will get one..

GROUP BUY should be organized.

if the GB hits 20 buyers, the dealer should give me a free one since it was my idea.

I think thats brilliant.

I agree Daisuke

Thanks Dai.

m4a1mustang 01-14-2013 09:23 AM

We could organize a GB (ghey buy) with Lou. I think I might buy as early as November, but ideally I'd wait for my year end bonus and buy in January/February.

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2013 09:24 AM

I want to see one in Night Race Blue :yum:

Agree'd. NO win for me. I had 2 Vette's. Any word on the suspension?
The interior is still weak, busy and a Vette. I was hoping for something better. Im sure it will be fast and fun. I wont buy it. Too Camaro from the back and for no reason. The Camaro is not the flagship performance vehicle and should not be referenced here on the Vette. Too bad.

Night race blue or black. With all the performance factors aside. I can't get past the rear end :shakes head:. Maybe if the Camaro never existed it would be more appreciated.

daisuke149 01-14-2013 09:45 AM

rear end looks good. They dont have to stick to the old ways. old ways arent always better. Everyones stuck cus they call it camaro lights. But really its a good looking back end.

It would look esp good in white with all the dark contrast there.

b1adesofcha0s 01-14-2013 09:46 AM

I feel like from some angles I love it and some angles I don't. Either way, it's not enough to be a deal breaker for me.
