Reds point is useless because he's building on a statement I made, which was you could squeeze up to 28mpg. I once had a monte carlo SS and i squeezed out more than 2 miles over the average on the highway. On highway i averaged 6 miles over the invoiced 28 highway. Which was phenomenal for a 5.3L v8 in 2006. I was able to squeeze 34mpg out of that one going to FL.
You're defense of Reds comment and Red's comment are both irrelevant to my point. So did i have a special SS???

You don't see the error in comparing EPA numbers to real world?

It's ok guys - let's not get worked up. What Unknown is saying here is that it doesn't matter if the next gen Z makes 400hp at the crank because there are plenty of guys here with intake, headers, and exhaust making 330whp in their 370z.

huh.... Dude, thats not what im saying at all.

A general comment was challenged as an epa debate.

"You can cruise a C6 and get 28mpg. So they didn't have to work to hard to get 30mpg. GM has been on top when it comes to sports car fuel econ for a decade. The pontiac GTO did extremely well too in terms of mpg vs power as well"..

This was meant as a user/driver/owner performance comment. Not to state magazine or manufacturer stats. There's no debating an individualized experience. From a owners or users standpoint, my experience with quite a few v8 GM cars is that they exceed in overall mpg's.

So in the longform, i'm saying Chevy reaching 30mpg on a v8 isnt surprising to me based on the last decade of exceptional fuel economy. It's such a loosely based opinion. It doesnt need a bar graph and stat debate. Thats what im saying...

But like i said, clicks always have an agenda.

Then...

next gen Z gets an EPA rating of 30 MPG hwy but I'm not impressed because I got 27MPG rolling on the flat road to my house?

Who's saying not too be impressed???? I'm just saying, that if anyone could pull 450hp out of a v8 and get 30mpg's. It would have been GM. I'm just saying im not surprised!!!! There whole record over the last decade impresses me in terms of sports car fuel econ. Im just not surprised that the new vette gets 30 mpg.

I dont even know why you're bringing the z into this...

What's the EPA's numbers on e85? Is the new vette flex fuel capable like most of GM's cars?

If people have issues with mpg with sports cars maybe this car is not for you. No offense get a Prius!
nice to know though if the corvette does make 30mpg. I say it's still relative to your driving habits.

:iagree:
I get 12 city 18 highway on the Z. I'm nowhere near 18/26mpg's of the Z. While i don't find my mileage comparable to my driving and am not impressed by my Z's numbers. IDGAF really cuz i enjoy driving the Z.

Very much related to driving habits and environmental factors where you drive

Well it doesn't make sense to compare real world numbers for the C6 to EPA numbers for the C7. For all we know, the C7 could get like 32 mpg while cruising. That's why using just the EPA numbers is a more fair comparison.

:iagree: all i was doing is clarifying unknowns statement, nothing meant to compare EPA numbers and real world numbers on my part

And i wasn't making an EPA political statement either. Thanks for being the only one with the "common sense" to understand where i was coming from right off the bat. :tiphat:

Nobody said you were making a political statement:confused:

You said:

You're not comparing like-to-like, which is what everyone has an issue with.

We all know what he meant. It just doesn't make sense.

I don't know what is going on here, but the C7 Vette is pretty cool.

Right guys?
