You're both right. According to the article UNKNOWN posted, it's 455, but 460 if you buy a performance exhaust.

I sat in one at Nashville cars and coffee last saturday. If I get off my duff and upload the pics I will post up here.

I am absolutely sick over this car, and I have never felt this way about any domestic vehicle ever. I have always respected the Vette, but this thing has crossed into the exotic territory with its looks for me.

The one I sat in was white with black wheels and red leather interior. Z51 package 3LT. The whole car is just stunning. I was actually almost mad that I had just bought my '13 Z. I will be watching the next couple years very closely to see how they hold up with the new DI setup and overall depreciation and reliability. I would ideally like to pay the Z off and keep it, but I really see this car in my future. And yes, it scrubs out the GT-R completely in my book.

Didn't you say that whoever you talked to up there that brought the C7 said the power was closer to 500hp but GM underrated it to give a break to the customer on insurance? Backwards to what Nissan did to us with the Z overrating its power. I just wonder how much in the know that guy was or if he was just salesman spewing a bunch of crap.

Me and my dad got a build week on ours. looks like its going to be the week of July 8th

Cant wait to hear your review. The rear is growing on me but im still not sold 100% on it. Reminds me to much of the Camaro which I still care nothing for.

I guess im the only person that think's the current C6 looks better? Granted the C7 interior is 10 times better. this look to much like a viper. IDk maybe in person ill like it

I think the C7 looks better in every aspect except from the rear, but even that is growing on me the more I look at it.

I can't get past that rear end view. The car looks amazing otherwise interior included which I have never been impressed with. I have not seen one in person so my view on the rear may change.

I think if you pick a color with a lot of contrast it looks good

Mr&Mrs 06-18-2013 12:29 AM

x2

It's the only angle I don't like, everything else looks real good imo.

I agree, looks great except for the rear. Which is a good thing or else I'd be planning how to save up and spend 50 to 70k otherwise.

He said that the car was purposefully underrated for insurance purposes while also taking into consideration the two models coming that will slot above the Stingray. I replied, "Oh you mean the Z06 and ZR1?" and he came back with "They aren't going to use those nameplates for the next ones." I asked him what they were going to call them and he told me he couldn't answer that question, of course.

He worked high enough up at Chevy from what he was talking about and the impression he gave me. Should have gotten his name.

FPenvy 06-18-2013 09:47 AM

dammit chevy. if these look as good in person as they do in pics i may have a crisis between my next vehicle choice. :shakes head:

About 2 months ago, I saw a white prototype C7 test driving in Arlington Tx. It drove past me as it came off the highway while i was waiting to make a right at the stop sign. At first I thought it was a C6 with a new body kit till the car rolled past and i saw the side rear window. Then it drove past me.

My impression... I was impressed but not because the C7 looked so great in it's new design. In reality, it looks like a C6 with a bunch of shyt on it. But, it had a look of quality to it. The C6 doesn't really look like a $50k car imho. It looks like a $40k car if you ask me. The paint and wheels just looked leagues better than the current C6... The rear was strange to me. I didn't see it long enough to form an objective opinion. But what i can say is... Immediately, it looked very supercar-ish. But I can't say if it was nice or not.

What i can assertain from my 30 second view of the C7 corvette. First year buyers will go crazy... After that, it will just be a vette in terms of looks. C6 with a bunch of shyt on it isnt ground-breaking. But the overall look in terms of external materials was impressive. With the photographed interior i can see why this car is $53k. But i also see why you may prefer the C6.
