But at end of the day do I want to sell my lighter 2800 lb and higher HP 500 hp Nismo track car for this new vette? I like my old tech stamped steel unibody Z!

I wouldn't touch first two model years of this car though! Way too many changes that haven't stood test of time with general public. I suspect there will be issues. Clearly GM still has some real functional silos too. The engine platform guy didn't know anything about transmission being hooked up to motor he developed? That sounded bad in the interview.

The rear bumper is too busy. Looks like the back end of a Camaro and LFA in the worst way. The two tone is terrible, too far up. That is by far my largest complaint. Not that I mind change, but telling me all those vents are active is not a reason to have it in that location. Function still had to follow form's rules and it struck out. The front bumper needs to lose that plastic grill too. There is no character or anything memorable for that matter when I see the front bumper. Probably because they used it all in that asstastic bumper. Profile is nice, interior is nice, engineering seems solid, just wish they focused a little less on the rear and put it in the front.

The C6 was a brand new architecture and I don't recall them having any major issues at all. Same thing with the Z06s, all model years were pretty much issue free from the research I did when thinking about buying them. While it's always safer to wait, I don't think there will be much to worry about.

The real reason to wait would be if you're interested in the next gen Z06

C6 was still based off the C5 chassis. The LS2 / LS3 was based off the LS1 motor. There weren't dramatic changes.

C6 to C7 there are a lot. New transmission (updated version of the old, but still very new)
LT1 motor is an all new design, only a handful of things carried over

The frame went from steel to all aluminum.

The electronics in the car also got a serious upgrade, that is where I think the bugs will be found.

Plenty of issues. all resolved under warranty but they had issues from weak crank bolts to ecu programming issues, brake pad issues, roof panel issues, etc.

I was sharing thoughts on car with some Porsche guys and heard the funniest poke at styling yet. "Looks like Sasquatch stomped on a Camaro!" Lol!

I wouldnt call that crap.

They took the cheap plastic interior and transferred it to the exterior. Maybe if they color-matched those parts it would look great. As it is...pure crap!

If they don't offer a color matched option thats easily something you can have done after the purchase.

Yeah! That looks much better. Don't get me wrong it is a badazz car for sure. In general I really like Corvettes and I was actually going to buy one, but for various reasons I went with the Z.

daisuke149 01-16-2013 10:02 AM

I would not want the color match option myself. black vents with white body= contrast and panda lives on.
