I think they were just mad that the Camaro tail lights look like absolute sh1t.

:werd:

I mean, they're "fine" on the Camaro, but they ruin the body of the vette.

m4a1mustang 12-21-2012 09:13 AM

Indeed. Vette needs to retain the 4x circular tails.

b1adesofcha0s 12-21-2012 09:18 AM

I mean it's one thing if you copy the look of a superior car like a Ferrari or something, but not so good when you do it with an inferior car like the Camaro. Especially when it doesn't look good with the rest of the car.

KERMIT 12-21-2012 10:10 AM

Really? You would let taillights dictate your purchase? And discount all another technical advancements?

If the tail lights are the only drawback then I would consider it an amazing update.

That's like saying you won't date a beautiful girl because she doesn't like football.

b1adesofcha0s 12-21-2012 10:12 AM

Depends. The C7 is on my shortlist of possible next cars along with the 2015 5.0. Something like the tail lights could swing me the otherway, though I'm already leaning towards the 5.0. If the rumors are true, it might even end up being as fast or faster than the base Corvette.

Sounds like a dealbreaker to me

GaleForce 12-21-2012 10:57 AM

I'm not that excited. We know the car will be a beast on darn near any track in the world...(sweet). But as far as styling and build, GM will find some way to boob it up. (Cavalier steering wheel in a Vette... :shakes head: )

MC 12-21-2012 12:10 PM

gonna be interesting my dads already got a deposit on one.. look forward to tracking it this summer

b1adesofcha0s 12-21-2012 12:28 PM

They're taking deposits already? It's not actually going to be released till like 2014 IIRC.

speedfreek 12-21-2012 12:55 PM

I am sure GM won't mind holding onto your money for you.

my dad put down i think $3K for the first one at the dealer at MSRP. not the best deal but he wanted the first one and he gets a few thousand off with his GM points he has saved up so it works out i guess. car is supposed to be available in the late summer of 2013 im pretty sure so not that far off

if there is a grand sport option i think thats what he wants so im guessing mid 60's the car should start at what around 52-53k for the base?

That's not too bad then, but I'd still wait for the official reveal before putting down a deposit.

Next gen 5.0 vs corvette c7? This will be interesting. I don't think the mustang will be able to match the curb weight or vehicle dynamics. That's not their target market

Only time will tell.

Maybe not, but you can spend that $20k difference in price to make the 5.0 outperform the C7.

(A) you don't know the price points yet

(B) don't start the mod-for-mod battles. We don't even know the limits of the bone stock vehicles yet, and then mod-for-mod takes it to another level.

I cannot wait for the C7 or next Mustang. Very excited to see what's about to come out.

Leave me alone! I'd expect price points to stay somewhat consistent with the current models. Don't expect like a $10k price swing for either one. Though I guess I should wait till full details are revealed for both cars :p

Not sure how I feel about those tail lights. Not as bad as the Camaro lights from before, but I need to see them on the car before making up my mind on them. Thanks for the info MC!

I don't know about those tail lights...

Interior looks like it could be good but we need to see the real deal.

Very nice! Thanks MC!

Mike 12-24-2012 09:51 AM

Taillights will probably kill it for me. Really have to see it in person though

b1adesofcha0s 12-24-2012 09:55 AM

How long before we will see an aftermarket rear bumper + tail light combo? We should just start designing one right now, we'd make so much money :icon17:

:iagree:

b1adesofcha0s 12-24-2012 10:48 AM

All we'd really have to do is make round tail lights and replicate the factory bumper to fit them.

ImportConvert 12-24-2012 11:00 AM

Fix the interior and I'll buy a CPO in a year or two if they are gremlin free in a heartbeat!

Meh.

It still won't touch it.

It may handle as well, but it will ride like a log wagon. It may accelerate as hard, but it will get crap for mileage or be quirky (melt pistons).

I'm over modifying OEM vehicles.

We won't know for sure until final details are revealed. I'm just getting started with modifying cars :icon17:

Rui Z 12-24-2012 06:08 PM

I like how they went the LF-A route and did a digital RPM gauge.

Side profile looks good.

And yes 4 circular tail lights would have been better, but these square ones look nice as well

I tried to like modified stuff, but beyond a catback, or shocks/struts, I just can't get into it. It "unbalances" the factory package unless you have a LOT of money to dedicate to the project.

b1adesofcha0s 12-25-2012 08:23 PM

Yeah I've just done bolt ons, springs, and sways on the Z. Probably won't do too much more on my next car.

NeverBoneStck 12-25-2012 08:38 PM

It won't be that nice . Sure , the engine will rock but there will be tons of cheap plastic in the interior and same old corvette ******** .. C'mon , it's going to be 2013 and they still can't get it right ... I will pass ..

The only issue I had with my Z06 was the interior. The handling dynamics were amazing compared to my 370Z Sport, and the transmission was much smoother. It was a much more precise suspension that somehow handled better on rough roads in corners, even with the run-flats. Obviously power wasn't an issue.

However, GM has come right out and admitted that the C6 interior was an embarrassment, and we know GM can make an interior (Cadillac CTS-V has a nice one, IMO.

I'm holding off on casting my stones until I see it.

Mike 12-26-2012 08:22 AM

I thought my C6 interior was as good as my 350z, and about on par with the 370. Maybe I'm just not too picky.

I feel this way too. Materials are pretty good. It's just the design that is lacking... but that's largely subjective.

I, for one, find the 370Z's interior a bit tacky, albeit well made. :icon17:
