If incentives stay the same? You can take $8k/13k off the price at some point. lol  I wonder if this new vette will further spike insurance?

Think about all you're getting in the new base compared to the existing base, though.

A 99lbs lighter aluminum frame that's 57% stiffer
Carbon fiber hood and roof panels
LOTS of electronic tech like the 10-setting traction control and the e-diff
Brembo brakes
etc etc

The existing base gets... nothing.

yes but technology and manufacturing process are advancing also as well as bringing it in house.

It would be too costly to change the production of the c6 mid cycle to move to any of these new processes, but for a all new design its worth it.

True.

Either way, the GM folks said "if you can afford a current Corvette you'll still be able to afford this one." That makes me think it won't be a huge bump for the base.

IM worried that the z51 with MR will be about 8k more than the base.

I'm not too worried about it at this point. Even if it turns out the Z51 is a little too expensive, you still get a hell of a lot of car for the base.

Still... anxiously awaiting pricing and option sheets!

Dont bet on it. Base MSRP is climbing above $60K from what I heard.

Supplier pricing is supposed to stay below 50k for a base. I'd guess that maps to ~57.5k

I couldn't jump right now... I gotta wait to see the new camaro. It too will be lighter. I'm hoping 3400lbs light. And with the new LT1 engine, whoa... I also think mag ride will be in the new camaro standard. Then, there's the case of the Z. You KNOW Nissan does a great job of making you think they will NOT be able to compete and then BOOM... What if they come back to the status the Z32 was in during the 90's??? It was a vette killing porsche competitor... Now i doubt history will repeat itself right now with a Z killing vettes. (thats the GTR's job.) But if the Z comes with all the right components? The right price? The right transmission(s) and STOCK TURBOS??? I might stay Z next gen as well?

With this vette? I would have to wait for the smoothed out physical update to know. There's potential in this styling, but looks incomplete still.
Oh and it's pricey. i been uppin' a lot of money to cars and guns.

They put out a car that will send designers and engineers back to the lab and make sure that their next gen cars can make a statement. Feature wise, the vette is what it should be even though im not in love with the looks. I don't know what the pricing is but... If it starts around $52/54k. they have a car that will affect how every car from the $35-70k range will be designed and made. And i hope it will be positive for us in Nissan and other sport car makers. Nissan has something to prove now that chevy is borrowing and possibly bettering our technologies. Nissan step up on the next Z and GTR. Especially on weight reduction and expanding the DCT to the Z.

FVCK CAFE!!!!!!!!! :driving:

Nicely stated about the effects this should have on Nissan and others!

There is going to be so much good new stuff coming. Don't forget about the new 5.0 as well. Should be a good option if you don't want to spring for a Vette. The Camaro will probably be good too based off of the ATS platform. Hmm... I feel a tingling in my pantalones.:rofl2:

Also I believe the Camaro may be getting a LS7 option.
