Rooster89 01-17-2012 07:21 PM

:leghump: that is all

Edit: nah but srsly this is the first boxster I find attractive. Its like that girl from high school who had glasses and braces and acne. then you see her at your reunion and you realize she is a victoria's secret model. kinda like that.

dAvenue 01-17-2012 07:25 PM

Oooh! Daddy likes.

Mike 01-17-2012 07:38 PM

looks kind of like an MR2 spyder ;)

jetguy 01-17-2012 08:19 PM

looks like Ferrari California to me

djpathfinder 01-17-2012 10:19 PM

Definitely a huge improvement over the outgoing model...lots of styling cues from the Carrera GT

my thoughts exactly... and that's a good thing :yum:

KingZee 01-17-2012 10:41 PM

:iagree: love it

KingZee 01-17-2012 10:44 PM

any power improvements?

HKYStormFront 01-17-2012 10:52 PM

i would assume a marginal improvement over the last body style but nothing drastic. big news last time was that they finally put an LSD in the S models iirc, that and the PDK option

N8GTOL 01-17-2012 10:54 PM

much improved from the outside

Boxsters don't come with LSDs stock? Makes feel better about my base model purchase :roflpuke2:

batman_4 01-17-2012 11:27 PM

never been a fan of the Boxster, BUT this Boxster may change that..

SMJane_Again 01-17-2012 11:40 PM

That picture at the beginning is my desktop wallpaper for the time being. It's crazy when you look at the old and new Boxsters together you can see the design differences, but viewed in isolation it's a little more difficult to discern. I hope they do a Spyder version of the new one, perhaps with a slightly more useful convertible top.

S.

FL 4Motion 01-17-2012 11:41 PM

all this does is make me excited about wha they'll do with the next cayman S and cayman R. :yum:

Rooster89 01-18-2012 12:20 AM

they should make a cayman/boxster GTS or GT with power more similar to the 911.

But I know that would never happen...it would eat into their 911 sales. :(

jetguy 01-18-2012 08:50 AM

There is a turbo kit that goes for$ 9k that brings it up to 450+hp, but I bet stock 315hp is just right.

m4a1mustang 01-18-2012 08:54 AM

It looks fantastic! Both the base and the S are going to be really sporty rides. I'll have to check one out.

puckshaw 01-18-2012 09:09 AM

I've never been a boxster fan but this new one completely changed my mind. I thought I had another contender as a replacement for my Z in the next year or so, that is until I started optioning one out on their website. EVERYTHING is extra. The price quickly shot north of $70k before I finally just stopped. There's no way I would pay that kind of money for that car.

Porsche kills you with options!

jetguy 01-18-2012 09:12 AM

Wait 3 years. Enjoy the Z then pick up a low mile used one loaded for $35k

I'd always heard that but didn't realize just how bad it was. I assumed for the relatively high starting price that it would come very well equipped in base form. That's simply not the case though.

I start out with a 911 at around $78k and end at $115-125k with the options I want. :ugh2:

I have a hard time believing I'll be able to pick up a loaded model for that kind of money in only 3 years. I'll most likely be looking to see what they do with the C7, 2013 GT500, 2014 Mustang, or 2014 STi instead. I'm more of a bang for the buck type of guy. They won't be as luxurious as the Boxster but I'll sleep better at night.

This makes me angry

m4a1mustang 01-18-2012 09:24 AM

I am bang for the buck too. I could get a boxster or 911 but I'd feel really bad about it. I think if I get one it will be used.

Yeah, you're paying for the engineering that's behind the base model. The growl produced by Porsche's power-plant is absolutely stunning IMO.

No doubt there's a lot of quality engineering there, but a lot is the Porsche badge premium as well. That's really what kills it for me. I want everything but don't want to pay for it. :icon17:

KingZee 01-18-2012 12:35 PM

for some reason I'm really tempted to price one out now, just to see all the options...trying to resist

Unless you're willing to spend more than $60k on it then no harm will be done. :icon17:

I agree. I don't really see too much of a difference from last years model which I looked out prior to picking up my roadster. I think initial price wise they are comparable but when it comes to maintenance, if it's anything like my wife GL450, i'd go with nissan. Once our management contract expires, I'll be dropping 200 bucks just for an oil change!

You must've held back when selecting options then huh?

I'm really liking this! Might be something I finally replace the M with! Have to wait to see it in person

Red__Zed 01-18-2012 10:00 PM

looks pretty neat

Shamu 01-18-2012 10:11 PM

Yeah its sweet! Boxster S with 315 HP 2900 lbs, torque vectoring, PDK. Its a beauty. The base goes to 27 liter 265 hp motor. Bet it will get awesome MPG

http://cdn1.theaffluist.com/wp-conte...Boxster-12.jpg

Its almost as sweet as my old Boxster.

^ That's a pretty extreme boxster ^... those first gen. boxsters are pretty cheap on the used market now.

This new one looks good. How the brand is putting their name on the back of the new 911 and Boxster is growing on me (at first it looked like too much/big)... i do have my dad's words in the back of my mind tho ..." the only real Porsche is the 911"

Steve why do you always have to state that you "could get one" in like every other expensive car thread? I never wanted to call it out, but this is like the 100th time i've seen it and just had to say something.. 101st time it's been "I could have bought a porsche/I can buy a porsche" too.. We know already :p

On topic, go look how much used Cayman's are... It's shocking how much they depreciate and even more shocking as to how many used ones are out there. It's crazy
