We know already :p

:icon17: I'm not being vain or anything. There's a group of us here that are addicted to buy cars (see the Automobiles Anonymous thread) and we use this forum to try and talk ourselves out of doing something stupid. So when I say, "I *could* get a 911, but..." it just reinforces to me that I *can't* get one because I'd have to give up every other interest of mine and then live with a car payment that could very well be rent... or go towards a house... and I'd effectively be working just to pay for a car. I don't think I'm the only person here that does that (openly talks about future cars... and talks themselves out of it).

It's important therapy because there are a lot of us that will price out cars that we really shouldn't be pricing out... and maybe we're mentally unstable enough to actually go out and make a pretty bad financial decision. ;)

Oh and 370ZSteve is always telling me I can't. :p

ok i'll give you that, well said. I've had 6 cars and im only in my 20's... if I didn't buy all of those and just saved or cut out other things, I could buy one too. I see what you're saying; well put.

Plus it's just a web forum :P

I limited myself to the 2S which is how I kept it "reasonable," but yeah, you can really go crazy with that stupid customizer...

They really suck you in with that base price, though. $78k... sweet! I might be able to afford a 911!

The new Boxster really looks amazing and I can't wait to see the next gen Cayman, which should look even better. If I were to ever get a Porsche, it would be used and a few years old.

What you have to do is price it out and then subtract 5 from the model year :bowrofl:

haggomyeggo 01-19-2012 10:16 AM

Steve where are these meetings. I think I might have a problem too...

Admitting it is the first step right.

The new boxster does look good but I'm not sold. Porsche is the 911 and that's what I'd get but then again at the price after options(car and drivers test of one hit 133k for a 2S!!) on one there's a lot else I'd get....

Audi R8 v8 is right there
AM v8
ZR1
GTR
Maserati gran turismo I think is probably on the high end new but a year or two old
You could probably find an older gallardo close to the 100k price too.
And I'm the biggest convertible fan there is. And most of those arent at close to the 100k area

I mean we are talking about these things as toys right?

I'd personally rather have an R8 or GT-R than a 911, but that's just me.

:icon14:

The R8 is not in the same class as the boxster and costs almost twice as much. It's only really competing with the 911 and maybe a fully loaded Cayman R if you just look at price.

The zippers on my jacket are made of the same material the cayman r has for door handles.....

Can't go wrong with a Porsche Cayman or Boxster if you love driving.

juicypinkkk 04-13-2012 10:48 AM

I like the GT-R, but I can't stand driving a "sports car" in paddle shifters , knowing full well thats the direction of the future but I'm hanging on to any manual transmission sports cars as long as possible.

TerribleONE 04-13-2012 10:51 AM

:yum: at the caymen!

While I agree with you juicy, have you ever had the chance to drive a GTR? Each time I have, I say to myself "now this is the ONE AT I can deal with!"

babbagandu 04-13-2012 11:29 AM

the S has 315hp and 266tq. That is for a 60k car. No thanks, do not want. Don't care how well it handles or how balanced it is or etc. A 60k sports car should have more than 315hp. That is all.

I agree to an extent, however we really need to look at the hp to weight ratio. the '13 cayman should be a pretty light car, much quicker than the Z, even at 15hp less.

the new NSX is going to be at least $120k and it only has ~450hp.... thats the same as a 5.0 mustang.

Well the current Cayman S makes 320hp and 273 torque at a weight of 29XX. Currently runs 12.9-13.1. So unless the next gen Cayman gets significant weight reduction 315hp and 266 torque aren't going to do much to improve it's current performance.

Porsche has been putting its entire line on a diet. The biggest additions other than appearance for the new cayman is supposed to be in the weight department.

I'm thinking 2750lbs for the S model.

KingZee 04-13-2012 02:07 PM

I'm loving the new look, especially from the back, wow...this just went into my "next sports car" lineup

Econ 04-13-2012 02:08 PM

Yea, I'm a big fan.

b1adesofcha0s 04-13-2012 02:14 PM

I can't look at a Cayman and not wish I had gotten that instead of the Z. Was out of my price range though. I think it's the best looking Porsche, with the exception of the 918.
