Default How a REAL man changes his oil!

Get a load of this. I was with my buddy while he was changing the oil in his '04 WRX today and something went horribly wrong. He forgot to take the cap off of his drain pan and it just overflowed. He refused to clean it and thought a few shop towels would do the trick. Not only did he not change the filter, he didn't even check the oil level after he dumped 5 quarts in her and he has never changed the crush washer on his drain plug. When I asked him why he doesn't check his oil level, he said, "Where's the oil gonna go?". As a friend and automobile enthusiast, I did my best to guide him and help but he simply didn't care. You can lead a horse to water... I should also mention that he encouraged me to share this.

You mean you're supposed to change it?

(Believe it or not, there are people that think that. I talked to a lady in a dealership years ago and she told me about her neighbor that bought a new car and had never changed the oil. 50k miles and the car was shot.)

A real man lifts the car with one hand, and changes the oil with the other.

Hahah! It was in his garage thankfully. He really doesn't care that there is a pond of oil in his garage. I told him to at least get some kitty litter to soak it up, but he didn't want to deal with it. No shame.

If you're not going to other to do the job right, what's the point in doing it at all? May as well go to a quickie lube.
