buddy of mine just bought a new Audi A5 and during the first week of ownership it has already been back to the dealership for repair. cluster lights started flashing, headlights wouldnt turn off, ebrake would not disengage, and a bunch of other weird things. I've never owned an audi, but i have owned a VW which is similar since they used a lot of the same parts especially under the hood. Not sure about how their engines are now, but I use to have blown coilpacks, window regulators went out 3 times, axles went out every 2 months (lowered), buttons and switches came off (they are glued on from the factory), and some other small things i might have left out.
I know the audi B5 S4's had problems with their turbos going out early and clusters going out. |

A lot of Audi's engines are interesting: many versions of 4.2 V8, older ones with race-derived inline-5 turbos, and Lamborghini-derived V10's. I also think the idea of quattro all-wheel drive is cool |

in 2009/2010 i owned a current gen A4 quattro 2.0T I liked it a lot i really just wanted a sports car otherwise i would probably still have that, even though i racked up a lot of random services due to mostly me driving the crap out of it. Before that i Owned a 2008 VW GTI stg 2+(apr) was fun but also a lot of maintenance ended up getting lemon lawed, prior to that i had a 2001 GTI 1.8t tons of fun also lots of issues.
with all that i will still buy another Audi. it comes down to preference at the end of the day. Quattro is a lot of fun its nice to have, there is no point in buying an audi unless you get quattro.
