Not really surprising, especially on VIR

VIR full maybe. But Grand West actually has a good balance.

MC is right, though. Stock for stock the ZR1 should win out with equal talent behind the wheel. It's a track beast.

And you'll pay stupid price for that stupid fun. For the price of a new cayman r you can get a slightly used gtr or corvette z06 that will blow the cayman's doors off.

ZR1 and especially ACR are to a degree purpose built.... and unique from really most other cars in their category.. they are raw power and lack the refinement of
porsche turbo ferrari and the tech of the GTR

you put any moderate driver in the GTR and then the ZR1 and they wouldnt get close to its #'s ... the ZR1 when driven 10/10ths the math and physics are going to win out

by the way.....the Z06/Z07 with the PS2's thats 600 lbs lighter aswell was 3 tenths slower in last years lighting lap

this shouldnt even be an arguemnt as alot of you miss the point when you see a result like this featuring the GTR and come in and gleefully report its defeat...

the chief engineer is unlike anyone else in the auto industry.. he is so uncompromising in philosophy that he maintains the car must remain balanced for everyday driving aswell as the track.. he honestly values emissions fuel efficency , wet or around town comfort as much as he does a lap time.. because of this he wont release the times of the special editions like the now discontinued specV and the new track pack as he only wants to show the performance of the regular model that the majority of consumers buy

im not taking away from the ZR1 at all it did what it did.... the mosler beat the GTR too while we are at

plus one to everything said here^ :iagree:

but that's all it is. cars like zr1 and viper acr may be very fast on the track, almost race car-like performance, but they don't work well on the road. Not to mention all the cheap build quality and corner cutting. These cars are excellent as the occasional weekend toy or trackday car, but for a refined, comfortable, daily driver you can drive all year round and run errands in, the 911 turbo and the gtr are hands down the better cars.

Grand west is still a super high speed course relative to most other courses. P/w plays a much more heavy-handed part when you are running such high speeds.

See gt vs m3 on willow or laguna, then watch the m3 spank it at vir due to the high speed straights.

What, you don't like it when the rear tires want to fly away?

also troof^ :iagree: while the ZR1 is still fairly streetable compared to the ACR viper, it would be a handful in anything other than perfect conditions i would wager...:ugh2:

well, that much power and without a finely tuned live axle to put it down through the curves, it's (the ZR1) got no chance right? :stirthepot:
