Testing of the 2012 Porsche 911

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS90XYXi1xg

This video alone makes me want one so bad. So much work and detail put into such a fine product..
(of course I would still get the 2012 GTR instead..)

edit: oops can a moderator move this to other vehicles section? thanks!

Because the 911 isn't the most recognizable vehicle after the model T?!

Anyways, I hear Stuttgart is nice this time of year

I love this car. I am just not in a position to spend $115k on one right now. :icon17:

Rooster89 12-09-2011 02:27 AM

bump for german engineering :)

RoshDawg 12-09-2011 12:16 PM

There really is nothing like German engineering. From cars to guns, they really make quality products.

If I get a Porsche I will have to switch to H&K. :icon17:

Haha. You won't be disappointed. I personally have never fired a better handgun than the H&K 45. But, like the Porsche, they come with pretty heavy price tags.

Filipeanutz 12-09-2011 02:48 PM

Holy crap...7spd MT...I'm already getting lost with 6spd sometimes...lol

Hah! I fell in love with the HK45. Extra $400-$500 over its competitors are well worth it in my opinion.

I like HK handguns a lot. The P2000SK is one of my favs. But it's a pricey piece.

Yeah, HK's are pretty pricey but I can understand why.
They feel more like a lot of effort was put into them IMO

m4a1mustang 12-09-2011 03:18 PM

I am totally happy with my Glock, though. Super reliable, comfortable, and it didn't break the bank.

Rooster89 12-12-2011 04:44 AM

I have yet to fire an H&K handgun. Though for the time I have my 1911 clone which serves me well because i was already familiar with it. The really hard decision would be to get a 911 4s or 2s...

I would get a 4s with the engine so far in the back. Control snap oversteer a bit..

haitech 12-12-2011 05:09 PM

That was like a mini movie.

I like Porsche's standard. Wish everyone would have a standard like that.

Jeffblue 12-12-2011 05:18 PM

being the test driver for one of those cars on this trip must have been awesome

babbagandu 12-15-2011 10:25 PM

At 6:02, why does it have a Georgia license plate if it's in South Africa? Why does it have one at all? I was not aware that Porsche had operations in Ga? I heard rumors they were gonna do something with the old GM plant that shut down but I did not think it already happened

Im in Stuttgart. Not far from THEE 911 factory/HQ in Zuffenhausen. Its an awesome place :)

North American Ops for Porsche below :) - hence the GA tag you saw for its North American market vehicles!

I like the 991 nine-eleven. So many years evolving the original design. . . Ferdinand Porsche designed groundbreaking cars even earlier: an electric vehicle at the turn of the century as well as the affordable "car for the people" Volkswagen Beetle.

I do kinda feel that the car is too long looking. its like someone put the 911 in silly putty and stretched it. so i would say the previous model, is the best looking. besides the carerra gt of course said the horse who spoke fluent norse. yeah im tired.

Isamu 12-24-2011 02:05 AM

wow... :yum: that's just beautiful....

No problem! I'm actually very seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on a 911 (991) S now. Maybe in a few months when the 2013 model comes out.

I would have to (subjectively) disagree. The 997 looks very outdated compared to the 991 nicer curves and more aggressive lines. And with the rear spoiler in the up position, it offsets the prolonged look a bit.

I have to take back my statement on this. After test driving some 991s, it's sometimes hard to tell that the engine is even in the rear. There is NO snap oversteer. Very progressive. Only reason to get the 4s (IMO) is for the wide body. But the added weight and extra price may not be worth it.
