Loved my Z, & had good luck with it. Even with slicks & hard launches at the track, I had no breakage of rear/axles/driveshaft. A wonderful, fun car. I want the same experience but with some more power. No wild build for me. It have chosen a corvette engine with a bit warmer G.M. cam. Everything new & warrantied:) A solid 4spd auto trans from a top trans. builder. 3 gears for the track, overdrive for the ride home:) I'm leaving my 3:90 gears as well as everything Z stock:) Headers/custom exhaust, with a bit of input by me:) + a tune of course. That should give me 450+ whp. Perfect for my 11.50 sec. bracket racing. I don't need to be the fastest LS-Z. Quicker than a Corvette Z06, with the classic good looks of a Z......

Hope to see some Z's at the track this spring. Better chance seeing Santa near my chimney:icon17:

I honestly feel that you should just buy a used z06. Update interior as necessary. You are taking the essence of a complete package from the 370z. It just won't be as cohesive and that may irk you greatly. Or just fi the 370. Cheaper, not as incongruent.

I have to agree on this. First off our engine bays are tight as hell. Cramming a v8 in there? You are looking at serious heat trap issues. And we have that problem with our V6's now. Imagine cramming a V8. A V8 will probably weigh at least 150 extra lbs. That will just add to forward weight throwing off the balance of the Z.
Also my prediction will be is, yes you will get about 30% more immediate torque at a much lower RPM. Overall acceleration times will only increase marginally. Then you will need aftermarket to make the Z as fast as you want it for a V8. Will there even enough room in the bay for a supercharger without stretching the chassis. I think the GTR build would end up cheaper. At least the engine is the same size and weighs about. The same as ours. And it would be a "Real" JDM build. That would be hotttt!

Why would one get banned for voicing their opinion? I'd be long gone if subscribing to the results of the hivemind was the only way to stay. This forum is great because they tolerate the open minds

Plus there is a proven track record of this being done. I can definately see why someone would want to go with the LS over FI. FI can be a lot trickier and have a higher fail rate. The LS engines are also quite light for their power output. Personally, I'd go the C6 route and fix it's inherent problems (Cause it's probably a cheaper route and I'm a cheap guy!) but everybody likes different things about their sports car experience.

I'd love to have an LSx in a z (I'd want a 370 though)

The brilliant chassis combined with a brilliant motor would be awesome.

I agree with your comment about the Z. My indecisiveness & posting it too many times is what irkes many here. My record holding car (350z) that I really liked got totaled by a wave of water released from a resevoir.
I liked the car so much, that I bought it back from State Farm, right before the auction. I loved everything about that car.
Even today, I'm not that sure which way to go. Sorry for the drama, but don't we all love our cars?
My car is at a shop. I have 3 choices. 1)Re-wire it completely, & hope it'll be as good as new, 2)sell it, then buy a 370z, mode it & drag race in the bolt on class, or 3) With a broken title, I no longer have to worry about strict N.Y.S. inspection laws, so I can build an LS 350z with the classic look of a Z. I CAN'T change what happened. I don't care for the look of the Vette!!!
I will post some pictures/video & more info of my car, so maybe some will understand my predicament & all this drama that I don't want or should have created. It's not life & death situation but it's still important to me.
I'll say I'm sorry for my long winded & repeated postings.
Thank you

I also want to thank the Moderators for their patience with me.

I just want to go on record as saying I did not have sexual relations with your car.

*Honestly? Should have let them keep it, because it's not the car you loved anymore. What has been done is tantamount to taking Aunt Betty out of the casket and letting her rot in the spare bedroom. just my un-varnished .02 on the matter.

:icon18::iagree: There's a ton of 350z's for sale.... i bet you could have found one for sale in the same year/model/trim within 2 weeks. If it was some super rare car then i'd say you should have done it.

I like your style, & that off the wall humor that I wish was a bit more permitted here. How to wash a car or what off-set for my Volks to get can get very boring.
I thought about letting go and moving to a new car. The buy back was only $6,500 for a very nice Black 6sp, strong engined, with a brand new trans, new ACT clutch 5zigen wheels, full thread tires, 3:90 gears, test pipes, & did I say it's black. Anyway, my thought was I can always sell it for 10 grand with no problem. Yes, it will never be the same:(

no one will pay 10k for a salvage title 350z.
