Subaru BRZ?
Anyone see the new 2012-2013 Subaru BRZ in the Tokyo auto show? New boxer engine producing 200 bhp, 150 lb-ft of torque, <2800 total weight and most surprisingly RWD. Similar to the toyota/scion's 86. Doesn't look bad but IMHO, the 370Z looks to be superior in alot of aspects. The BRZ also costs a pretty penny ($34K sticker price) I wonder how much the Sti version will cost?

The BRZ and Scion FR-S are the same car, just rebadged and cosmetically altered in the front and rear. As you already know, it is a joint venture between Subaru and Toyota. It will be sold as a Toyota (instead of Scion) in Europe and Asia. The FT-86 was the concept car and that still has the best looking front and rear end. But between the BRZ and FR-S production versions, I think the FR-S has a more aggressive look.
Light weight and decent in power, I'm curious to see what the STi version will have under the hood. I think I would still opt for my Z (or WRX STi) any day over it.

Imho, 200hp/150lbs of torque isn't screaming, dish out 28k to me. I know what they are selling is RWD and possibly the lightest-most balanced chassis in the price range. But 240hp and similar torque would have sold this car. I don't see this selling well without a 320hp FI version. |

I would like it more if they were to offer an AWD version...I'm looking to get a smaller sized AWD car for the winter and was crossing my fingers that this might have an awd option, but it looks like i'll be disappointed. I do like how it looks and it is a little pricey but maybe its still really fun to drive.

ARe you kidding me. This is a 2.0 non-turbo motor. No way will you be able to make 250whp with simple bolt on's. |

turbo for this car is a bolt on really, it's a subby 2.0. the parts are everywhere. I've also read that there may be a "just short of 300hp" version from subby.

The only thing close to FI is Toyota considering to use supercharger for this engine, but that's it? Hot Toyota GT 86 planned - Autocar.co.uk

subaru noob here... wouldn't it be too difficult to engine swap it with an STI, let's say from 2012, and call it a day if u want more HP for the platform... or is there info out there saying that this would be difficult...
