That would be impossible without very extensive modifications if even possible after then. They are completely different beasts with one setup to accomodate for AWD and the other with a lower CG and less space. So not getting into anything more specific than that the height of the engine would be all wrong to fit in that engine bay. (then again u can fit a gt-r engine into a juke so what do i know)

On the force-fed FB variants, the turbo is mounted beneath the engine, in contrast to the high-mount location typical of the turbo EJ-series engine still used in the U.S. The intercooler remains mounted directly above the engine. In STI guise, the new 2.0-liter FB turbo is targeting the same 300-hp peak output as the existing engine, but will return 10 percent better fuel economy. Inside Line says: Look for more details to emerge when the production version of the 2013 BRZ is formally unveiled in December at the Tokyo auto show.

My only complaint thus far is the high compression ratio. 12:1 CR means aftermarket turbo kits are going to be very limited. I was hoping that they would have factored this into building the car, but I guess not.
I can't wait to get behind the wheel of one.

there is already a confirmed supercharged version of this car testing.. so it looks like if they bring a higher end version to production... that might be the route instead of turbo

If that is true I wonder what the price will be. I mean with a base price of 24k and an assumed loaded price of 28k the supercharged version would probably be near 33-35k. With a price over 30k this car will need to have 300+ hp to be able to compete with the other cars in it's price range. As it is now at 24k there are other cars that are a better bang for the buck.

3k for the kit but you still have to pay for install if you want your warranty intact. Bumps the price up.
Honestly I think this car will do well for auto-x junkies, drifters, poor teens and 20 somethings, and the occasional adult who wants something cheap but still performance oriented without a care for actually how fast the car is. The sad fact is that most performance car buyers never take their car to the track and never race their. That being said it's hard for the casual driver to appreciate a car of 2600lbs that corners exceptionally well vs. a car that will put you back into your seat when you hit the gas. I mean test driving this car vs. a mustang/camaro/ even 370z and it won't stack up. Only a true enthusiast will be able to appreciate it's cornering on a brief test drive, where as any average joe can mash the accelerator and fell the joy of true power. Personally with this car being sold at the same price as the WRX on the same lot I would take the WRX. Worlds faster, will put down similar numbers on a track due to it's AWD, and will respond to mods (both engine and suspension) better. We all have our opinions and only time will tell how this car does but I know I won't be at all envious when I'm passing one on the street. I mean hell, the 370z is much heavier and will still put down similar if not better numbers in the corners. |
