The horsepower race has gone nuclear: 2013 GT500

The new mustang looks & sounds great, but did they give it independent rear suspension ?

No. Doesn't really matter though.

Those are the SVTPP wheels. I like them the most.

The IRS thing is gonna keep coming up until ford puts it on the mustang. But since ford will go from the best Solid rear axle setup to a below average IRS, everyone will talk about how much better the solid rear axle was.

I doubt it. They know if they go to IRS they can't pull a Cobra again. If/when they do it it's gonna be a solid setup.

It's all about cost. In 2005 when talking about staying with the solid rear axle ford said it was because most people wanted it for dragging but the magazines said it shaved $5000 off the sticker price.

I'd like to see what people would buy if IRS was a $5000 option on the GT

Your right, it wouldn't matter too much if all the roads were smooth straight aways, but, do u really want to bunny hop when you hit a bump at any moderate speed?.. especially if you are going quick & an an unexpected curve comes up...... Not knocking the 'stangs, I love them, but I think it would be more appealing & safer if they addressed that issue....

I drive one every day. It handles rough roads just the same as the Z did...

These aren't the same SRA setups from the old days. They drive completely differently.

Again, this is not the same rear suspension from the 64 mustang. All the experts says that it's the best solid rear axle out there and doesn't hurt the stang. Like I said a few post back. It's better to have the best solid rear axle over a mediocre IRS.

I love it. The mustang may only have one thing wrong with it so I'm Going to say it over and over to make myself feel better

Solid Rear Axles are like handgrenades. It will literally explode at 7k mi, and the rear of your car will scrape on the road. Also, a lot of civilian casualties will occur.
