ok, why/how are we comparing these two cars? Since when do people sit there and decide between a $30k car and a $80k car? Hmmm, should I buy a 370Z or a GT-R? A 328 or an M3?

Doesn't happen really. The 5.0 and Shelby are both amazing cars for their price range.

Because you can get the GT for ~$35,000 very well equipped vs. $80,000+ (with markup) for the GT500.

Just like the dealers asking $60k around here I can still find Internet pricing for less than MSRP. Yes there will be a mark up for the first 2013s on the showroom floor. But after a while when more show up at dealers they will come down in price. My only concern is how much of an increase will ford place on the MSRP.

If ford does raise the MSRP I will then look into a SC 5.0 off the lot.

I was just refering to the new kid in school syndrome. The 5.0 came out, amazed most. two years later the shelby comes out, amazes most. again. but one is newier and shinier than the other.

How much will a 5.0 with full boltons add in terms of rwhp?

Im assuming the 5 liter v8 responds better to NA mods than my ex-370.

Full exhaust, CAI, tune, and a Boss 302 manifold and you are at about 440-450 whp.

Just a CAI/Tune should get you to around 400-410.

How much whp do they come with stock?

Don't know much about Stangs but from what I remember a pulley swap used to do wonders for the engine, does this still hold true?

Only on the supercharged cars. So on the 550 hp GT500 you could spend about $600 or so on a pulley and a tune and make 650+ hp with the factory blower.

I think the '03-'04 Cobras were able to run from about the stock 390whp to 500-550ish on the stock blower with just a pulley swap.

A close friend of mine had one, we went to Palm Springs (hot desert resort city hour and a half from LA) and his rear bumper warped from the heat though :rofl2: Then his engine fell apart at 60k and he leased a beemer.

m4a1mustang 11-30-2011 10:59 AM

That's crazy. Those engines were generally bulletproof and could stand up to ridiculous power.
