The good news is 1st gear will now run through 60 mph, which should help a lot with the 0-60 time.

So that means I can drive around town and never go into 2nd. ;). Almost like owning an auto.

They mentioned it in the article. Falkens I think.

Interesting, with 1st gear that long is it going to turn into a Corvette setup where at 70mph it is cruising at 800RPMs and basically you can do a 1/4 mile in 2 gears?

Goodyear F1 Supercar G2s. The compound is specific to the GT500.

Probably 3 gears. In regular street driving with my lowly 400whp 5.0 I can go from 1st gear straight to 5th gear if I wanted to and keep up with the flow of accelerating traffic no problem. The GT500 will have gobs more torque. :icon17:

My bad, I thought I read that somewhere. That was probably some other article for a different car. :p

Are they sticking with the current tire size?

Probably. Falkens are generally crap. :icon17:

No official tire spec out yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. With the right compound tire and suspension setup (and launch control) 285 rears should be sufficient (it doesn't matter what ImportConvert tries to say).

That's what confused me when I was typing that post. I thought about going back and checking the article again, but laziness won that battle :icon17:

Yeah, wider is not always better.
Did you see that video I posted in that one thread about the 9 second 5.0 NA?

Yes. So sick.

And you're right. Just because the tire is wider doesn't always mean you are increasing your contact patch.

From the info I have been given, the 9 second run was the first of the day and they had just finished the basic tune that morning and went to the track. It was the 'break in' run, they are hoping for low 9s.

That alone makes is worth the money.

For those who thinks it's just a mustang. I don't believe that someone can take a 5.0 for $30k and build it to the performance of the new Gt500 for $20k in performance parts. You might have done it with the 2012, but not the 2013.
