"Will a ZL1 owner ever go to 184?" Answer: not a Mustang

"200+ mph is damn impressive on a GT500." Answer: false, because it's just a Mustang

It's sad because that's pretty much truth in the eyes of most people. :icon17:

I still think it's important for Matt to understand that Shelby does not design, develop, or build the GT500. They just collect royalties.

Anything Shelby puts out is just a modified ford

Not true.

Shelby still builds new versions of their old roadsters which have nothing to do with Ford.

The key point I am trying to make is that, aside from the name, Shelby is in no way associated with the GT500. Everyone seems to think it's just Shelby designing, developing, producing, and selling them through Ford dealerships. That's not true at all.

It's all designed and built by Ford. They slap a Shelby badge on it for marketing purposes. That's it.

Ok back on topic...5 speed or 6 speed?

Lemers 11-16-2011 10:36 AM

:iagree: with you. But as I recall Caroll Shelby did have imput on the 2007 GT500s.

Carroll Shelby lends his support to SVT, adapting his earlier role as
a senior advisor on the "Dream Team" that was assembled to develop
and build the 2005 Ford GT.

"I've worked with the SVT guys for several years now, and I know they
have the guts, the talent and the passion to deliver the best
performance Mustangs ever," says Shelby.
Here is the link to the article I quoted
The New 2007 Shelby Mustang GT500

I'm not saying Shelby created the GT500, but STV did get input from him.

I was thinking the old man in the corner that they shake every once in a while to ensure he's still breathing.

SVT Guy: "Carroll, we were thinking of shaving 8 lbs of weight off of the engine by using cheaper yet lighter materials, and this new intake design should boost power by 15 at the rear wheels. What do you think?"

CS: "Whatever"

*designed by Shelby*

Caroll Shebly's initial input to STV

"We need to take this redesigned mustang and supercharge it, that's what Shelbys are all about"
